As most folks would agree the car was fun to drive and cornered flat.
OTOH I was rear ended not once, not twice BUT THREE TIMES during
four years of ownership...............but I will say its one of a few cars that I
later sold for essentially what i paid for it. (The others were a Corvette
and an RX-7)Nov 28, 2024

74 914, all updated with a 300 hp 2.7 liter 911 engine, balanced and blue printed, new interior, 3 tone blue, targa top and removable roof blue, new paint white, 15x8 Fuchs rear radiused rear fenders, 15x7 Fuchs front, cross drilled 911 calipers front and rear Aftermarket oil tank and cooler. Electronic ignition, trunk mounted Optima battery, front and rear stabilizer bars, lowered, A really fast and nimble ride, very much like a go cart.Oct 04, 2009

The one Porsche I own that always gets smiles and waves, never middle fingers. I feel like I should wear gloves and a driving cap when I drive it, but then I'd probably get that middle finger, and well-deserved... It is in very nice condition, not a garage queen, though I need to drive it more. And with A/C that actually keeps you cool, it's kind of unique for 914s...Jul 24, 2009

one of the lightest cars available in north america! Targa topped vintage Porsche with ability to put up to a 98 911 engine without much modification! Did I mention, vintage Porsche with greater parts availability that a camaro! Love it!Jul 15, 2009

Handles like a Dream, and most fun to work on! This thing eats corners for breakfast. The engine can be pulled in about an hour, and lots of aftermarket parts and upgrades are available (has a great enthusiast's support network). But, it's a money pit as far as maintenance goes. The engine parts are standard VW (unless you have the Porsche 6-cyl.), so that stuff is cheap, but everything else is vintage porsche!Jul 07, 2009

Best race street car for the money, nothing handles better, period. Beats
everything in autoX and on tight circuits. Could use a few more hp.May 22, 2008

Handles well, fun to drive. Power is not great, but considering how light the car is, the little four cylinder works well. Lots of trunk space for a two seater.May 06, 2008

I built a race car with this 914. When it was stock, it was completely
gutless and lots of body roll. A full roll cage stiffened up the chassis
weakness. Race suspension tightened the car up to nearly no body roll,
rails through corners (race tires of course). May 06, 2008

This was my brother car in California that he got around 1985. My father drove it to Philadelphia in 1988. The car has a 1.8 litre motor with fuel injection. Port fuel injection was rare in the 1970's. We put a front sway bar in the car after I autocrossed the car for a year. You can see the sway in the racing photo. Mar 05, 2008
