This car drives beautifully, tracks straight, shifts smoothly and brakes well. Nice and tight. I've been driving this all summer when it's not raining. I keep the radio dialed in to a Classic Rock station to complete the period feel. Love my 914!Jul 10, 2013

The final production year of the 914. 2 liter horizontals opposed 4 cylinder. It starts at 95 hp, but you can get it over 125 fast and cheap. It is lots of power for this very lite car. The Bosche electronic fuel injection runs well, but parts are not made for it so 75% and climbing are carbarated with VW style carbs. Carb cars do not run better, but are easier to maintain as parts are readily available. This car has an amazingly low center of gravity and feels so good on twisty tracks. It's open air on top feels great. The mid engine weight stability makes this car a winner. Do not put a V8 in it. Thanks! Update: I got this baby running again with a new distributor and it's still amazingly fun.Oct 20, 2012

It may only push about 100hp, but the thing is light and nimble. Nothing is more fun to drive. The engine resonates under throttle through the after market carburetor setup, and makes you feel like your driveing a much more powerful car. The mid-engine design gives the car great balance with just a hint of over steer.Apr 30, 2008
