1974 Jeep Wagoneer Preview summaryImage

Coming off of the year when Jeep introduced the first ever QuadTrak 4WD system, the 1974 Jeep Wagoneer introduces another big change. The 360 cubic inch V8 that had been the big gun in the Jeep Wagoneer lineup moves down a notch, and a bigger, meaner 401 cubic inch V8 comes into the option pack. This extra power just gives the Jeep Wagoneer more appeal for those seeking to conquer the wild trails. The AMC 258 I-6 is also available.
The now typical transmission options, a 3-speed manual, a 4-speed manual, and a 3-speed automatic are still available. Though changes are typically slow and not dramatic (don't fix it if it ain't broke), the changes that are made just enhance the dependability and versatility of this standard of the SUV market. If restoration and off-roading are hobbies of yours, then the 1974 Jeep Wagoneer might just be an SUV for you. Because changes in the Wagoneer were so slow and gradual, many of the parts from year to year are interchangeable, so finding parts is rarely a problem. An entire mini-industry exists, just making parts to restore and customize the Jeep Wagoneer.
