The 1974 Chevrolet Camaro continued to drop in power and increase in safety as government regulations and oil embargoes took their toll on the proud pony car. New bumpers were installed at either end of the car, and an AM/FM radio was optional.
While the oil embargo and drop in power was a problem in 1974, today it gives restoration fiends room to grow their engines. Tuning these cars is fairly popular, and the 350-ci V8's provide a good place to start. The base model was a 250-ci L6 rated at horsepower, and the Z-28 had a 350-ci V8 rated at 245.

Its a very fun car to drive,not enough power yet because of the straight 6 thats in it,but plan on building a 350 chevy to put in along with a racing trans. is a very well con structed Dec 21, 2011

Car had too much power for its tires, brakes, and handling. Could have been a good dragster,went fast in a straight line but couldn't turn or stop well. Was afraid to put it in my garage because it always smelled of raw gas when you were near it, never could find the reason. Was my first company car almost got me in trouble when the president's Lincoln was in for service and he bowed it, he stomped on it like he did with his car and peeled out through an intersection, got him a warning ticket.Nov 02, 2010

Almost 10 Years working on this car...(some years more works than others).
Almost finished it's transformation to 197'0 RS Looks :D
Interior is very simple, will have a full rollcage soon. Dash with Autometer Gauges already built and two racing front seats with.
Exterior is under transformation, new color will be titaniun gray with black inserts and of course, front and rear 1970 Rally Sport looks.
This car is VERY fun to drive, you can search "chatarro" on youtube and see what I mean.

Dislikes - No A/C, Not very good gas milage
Likes - Everything else! GM Crate 350 motor, 350TH tranny, new black cloth interior, headliner, awesome 6X9 pioneer 4-way speakers, 500 watt amp in the trunk, Metallic Forrest Green paint with metallic flake. Overall, a ride everyone is trippin overJun 13, 2008

I owned a 74 Camaro Type LT Z28. Completely restored it myself. Original 350ci 245 HP Aluminum valve covers. Dual snorkle air cleaner. M21 Muncie 4-speed. Midnight blue. I loved the car. I want to find me another one.Apr 30, 2007

The `74 Camaro is a very much over looked car. When saying anything about having it in my shop, no one seems eterested. I've driven the car however and can honestly say that aside from the car's extra weight, adding HP and a good thick sway bar in the rear will make you want to stick around. I love the lines, and there's no mistaking the message being sent by this car on the street. New comers always jump at what's buzzing the loudest, but what a little wisdom can teach them is that a great time is to be had on the path less traveled, or in this case, the road less driven.
