1973 Jeep Wagoneer Preview summaryImage

The 1973 was a trail blazer that came from a long line of hardy trail blazers. Two engines were available: an AMC 360 V8 and an AMC 258 cubic inch I-6. The 1973 Jeep Wagoneer was built to power through any trail in any weather, snow, rain or shine. 1973 was a momentous year for the Jeep Wagoneer line, because a Wagoneer came in first place in the first ever SnoDrift Rally. A Wagoneer also took second place in the event. 1973 also brought forth the first ever QuardraTrak 4WD system, which was the first fully automatic 4WD system. Three transmission options came in the 1973 Jeep Wagoneer: a 3 speed manual, a 4 speed manual, and a 3 speed automatic. Why so many options, you might ask? Well, not only was (is) the 1973 Jeep Wagoneer great at bumping along the wooded, rocky trails of imagination and reality, but it's just as comfortable cruising down the road, smooth and comfortable, with plenty of room for passengers. And despite being from 1973 (before some of us were born), there are still Jeep Wagoneers of this breed out there, either well-maintained, or waiting patiently for the Jeep faithful to come along and restore them, confident that they can still dominate any terrain.

Wagoneer has proven to have better power and control off road. Spacious as every day driver and fun for cruising. Surprisingly good mileage on HWY but not as good in the city with so much power. This rig requires regualar care and maintenance.Aug 26, 2012

Awesome! Just plain mega-awesome!! Great acceleration, braking and handling. Has never needed any repairs and there are no rattles. The interior and exterior are just amazing and this is a blast to drive. The only downside is that it only gets like 16-20 miles to the gallon.Feb 05, 2010

This truck was awesome. I was never out-wheeled by any other stock truck. The thing could outrace a Blazer, Bronco, or Scout easily. I was never outclimbed by anything. Aside from being built in the days of 'regular' gasoline, this truck was perfect. Because it was built for 'regular' gasoline, the engine leaked oil when you didn't use an additive. The body was incredible. I could abuse that truck all I wanted, and the paint never got scratched. Even though the paint was 30+ years old, it was still unfaded. Even when I dented a fender, the paint didn't flake off or ship -- it bent with the steel! This truck was amazing, and I look forward to owning another.Nov 21, 2009
