i brought the car all original with 35000 miles on it. its a solid car that runs like a dream. when ever i take it out all eyes is on me. the only bad thing with this car is it takes a lot of gas.Dec 24, 2009

Its a Cadillac, what more is there to say? I saved it from the scrapyard, all 25ft of her, when I found it she hadn't run in 20yrs, parked in an aircraft hanger with 42,000 original miles, I made it my duty to do the one thing this car wasn't intended for and make it a rockabilly wreck.. Its beautiful, the white paint compliments the surface rust nicely, the engine purrs all 472ci of it, this car will pass anything but a gas station. And the best part is it was free. Just time and some parts.. I highly recomend you go out and build one of your own.. and no, this car will NEVER get a coat of fresh paint.Aug 31, 2008

Lavender '69 convertable. 472cid 10.5:1 3spd- auto dual exaust. Bought it when I was 17 behind my parrents backs, had it for almost a year when I was in high school, spent too much, spent 5 months fixing it (heads), ran for a month and threw a rod, it tought me alot. Got riduculed and praized from all diffrent people, mom hated it w/ a pasion; ) 1st rod.Jul 24, 2008

Start up

I was told I need a new timing chain. I started my car and a mechanic said with a new timing chain my car would crank a lot quicker. Is this the case or is it a bad alternator or another component that deals with the charge to the car? The alt is new and battery is as well

Carburetor

I have a 4 barrel Rochester quadrajet carb on a 69 deville. If the jets on the inside are clogged will it cause it to make strong air sucking noise and make the car hardly stay running?

Carburetor

I have a 69 coupe deville and I ran it on empty for the first time and put gas in it and it started running terrible. The car felt like the tranny went out or the gas was extra bad. It barely made it home and it was only going maybe 10 or 15 mph at the time while I'm flooring it. My needle valve on my carburetor was down so I took it and got it cleaned, because it had already been rebuilt. After that I put the carburetor back on and cranked the car and it ran but still sounding and running horrible. I never tried driving it after that but I'm curious to what I should do next or to look for... I know I need a new tank, but while the car is running you can just hear air sucking from the carburetor what's making it do that?
