My 67 Cougar hesitates when I give it a lot of gas. Ideas?
Looked through the carburator, everything looks fine.

Some features were ahead of it's time due to lacking technology. For example, the retractable headlight doors were pneumatically actuated, having rubber hoses connected to air tank with engine compressed air. The hoses age, crack, and leak, causing door(s) to fall while driving at night. Also, sequential turn signal taillight concept was cool but cam motor easily seizes from corrosion, causing turn signal lights to fail. Both problems are easily resolved by today's electronic technology.Dec 06, 2014

Not made for the fainted heart about thrust and speed. I loved this car it is like my DNA is in all the components. All and all it is the awesome car. I can't ask for a better muscle car. I would like to add air condition in the near future of coarse it is not for day to day driving.Jul 24, 2014

I like the looks and performance of the car as well as the rarity of Cougars in my area.
Great car to go cruising with. Has plenty of get up and go, a fun car to drive. Have made many of new friends with the people that talk to me about the car.Apr 07, 2014

This was my Uncle's car. He stopped driving it in the 70's and it sat in his backyard in Arizona until I got a hold of it in 2005. I did a complete nut & bolt restoration over the next 7 years. It is now back on the road ready to burn rubber.May 02, 2013

Every time I drive it I' so proud of it. It really catch's the eyes of a lot of people and It always does great at Car Shows. Like I said this car is my Buddy. I'm 69 years old but when I get behind the wheel of the Cougar I forget all my problems in life.Mar 04, 2013

First if all, I want to say that I love this car. When you drive it, there is a
real sense of occasion when I drive this car. It's fun to drive too. The
power steering makes it very manageable. The engine sounds amazing,

Been through years of driving these cars, and most times would rather drive and work on this old thing than anything else out there today. There just aren't many left. And it has more refinement and style than a Mustang. I have been waiting for them to come back, it was a cheap trick to kill them off, andgive the sequentials to the ford, iI will miss them.Jan 07, 2012

i love my 67 cougar.. i have always enjoyed working on cars and this has been my biggest project yet. all the work and time polishing pays off every time i pull out of the garage. i really enjoy meeting other people who own old cougars at car shows and looking at 67 and 68 cougars to get ideasNov 19, 2010

Acceleration is slow, but that's to be expected, as it's not a perforance package. It's held up pretty good for 43 years, it's built nicely I'd say. It's fun to drive, especially since I so frequently get waves, honks, and comments on it. It's a nice classic.Mar 28, 2010

This is a 1967 Cougar GT originally with a 320hp 390ci c6, now has a 450hp 428ci with 500ft lbs of torque, c6 with 3500 stall, 9 inch rear with 3.50 gears and detroit locker. Best quarter mile time to date is 11.95 @ 113mph. Aug 03, 2009

Misfire problem
Hello all, I have a 289 engine which has been running fine, but in the last couple of weeks it has not been wanting to idle properly(revving too low). I did an oil and filter change last week and took it out today for a run. Made a stop and on the way back it started misfiring upon acceleration. Gentle acceleration was fine but anything more would cause misfire. There's been no smoke at all but I should mention that the exhaust is blowing a bit from the pipe conecting to the exhaust manifold. As I say, I have to keep my foot on the gas pedal at idle to stop it from stalling. Many thanks in advance.
