Overview
After the BMW M235i left the scene in 2016, the M240i slotted right into its place in the F22 lineup, continuing with the next generation of BMW’s turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine. That car ran through the F22 generation, and was succeeded by the G42 generation M240i in 2022. The basic formula remains the same: Two-door coupe with 50/50 weight distribution, and a big 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six jammed under the hood, powering the rear wheels. The 3.0-liter’s performance is now dialed up to 382hp and 369-lb.ft. of torque, though these days the only transmission available is the eight-speed ZF 8HP automatic.
Key Features
- Turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine, automatic transmission, Variable sport steering, M Sport braking system and Adaptive M suspension
- Electrically opening vertical air flaps in the grille for increased cooling, single individual circle full-LED headlamps, aluminum hood and fenders, high-gloss Shadowline exterior trim, M-specific decklid spoiler and diffuser
- Standard moonroof, perforated SensaTec upholstery standard, M leather wheel, cushioned knee pads on center console, M logo on door finishers, M pedals, M driver footrest, M floor mats
- Standard Frontal Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Dynamic Cruise Control, optional Active Blind Spot Detection, Active Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Parking Assistance Package
Pricing Details
The BMW M240i had a $47,900 base MSRP. Used examples on CarGurus range from $27,732.00 to $55,998.00 with an average price of $22,236.57. Option packages include a Premium Package (heated steering wheel, heated front seats, Adaptive LED headlights, head-up display) for $1,950, and stand-alone options like Active Cruise Control ($550), remote engine start ($300) and a Harman Kardon sound system ($875).
