Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: The 2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The entry level 228 xDrive Gran Coupe is rated at 241 horsepower, which is 13 hp more than the previous version’s powertrain. The M235 xDrive Gran Coupe we drove increases output to 312 hp, which is 10 hp more than its predecessor. These second-generation Gran Coupes feature a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and all-wheel-drive (AWD) is standard. The 228 xDrive is the fuel economy leader of the 2 Series Gran Coupe lineup, with an EPA-estimated 26 mpg city, 38 mpg highway, and 30 mpg in combined driving. The M235 xDrive drops to 24/33 mpg city/highway, and 27 mpg combined.

Which BMW 2 Series trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW 2 Series offers these trims:

• 228 xDrive Gran Coupe: Standard all-wheel drive, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, a 10.7-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and a Harman Kardon premium sound system make this the best-value trim for shoppers who want the core 2 Series Gran Coupe experience.
• M235 xDrive Gran Coupe: More power, upgraded brakes, a rear spoiler, unique interior trim, sport seats, and a sport steering wheel add a more performance-focused character, while the available M Performance package brings a sport suspension, M brakes, M Sport seats, and 19-inch wheels with performance tires.

What BMW 2 Series do most buyers choose?

The BMW 2 Series years with the most listings are 2025, 2026, and 2024.

Higher-volume years usually give you more choices in trims, colors, and mileage, which makes it easier to compare listings and find a strong match. They also tend to be the years shoppers focus on most, so pricing and deal activity are often easier to evaluate.

What is the BMW 2 Series's resale value?

Most model years in the table are moving lower year over year, which is good news if you want to buy used. The biggest drops are concentrated in the newer years, while several older years are changing more slowly. That pattern suggests you may find stronger value in recent inventory, especially if you want a newer car without paying close to original pricing.

The 2017, 2015, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
