It also boasts some of the latest safety innovations. ## What’s New for the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class For 2024, the GLE receives a number of updates, including some visual tweaks, new tech, and new powertrains. The front bumper and grille have been freshened, and inside, the GLE receives the next evolution of its infotainment tech. The GLE is also now available with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. ## Design In addition to the new bumper and grille, the Mercedes GLE is now offered with new wheel designs. The GLE lineup features multiple trims, differentiated by their powertrains. The AMG versions have more aggressive bodywork and a wider track to pair with their heightened performance. ## Powertrain The base powertrain in the 2024 GLE-Class is the 255-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the GLE 350. The GLE 450 comes with a 375-horsepower twin-turbocharged inline-six. Moving up to the GLE 580 upgrades the power plant to a 510-horsepower twin-turbo V8 engine. Power is routed through a nine-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels (RWD) or to available 4Matic all-wheel drive (AWD), depending on the trim selected. And then there are the AMG variants. The Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 features a hybrid twin-turbo 3.0-liter inline-six that makes 429 horsepower, and the AMG GLE 63’s hybrid twin-turbo V8 develops 603 horsepower. The AMG GLE 63 can sprint from zero to 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds. Mercedes-Benz also offers the GLE 450e, which is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), working with electric power and a turbocharged four-cylinder engine to put out a combined 381 horsepower. It also provides a purely electric driving range of about 40 miles. The most efficient conventionally powered version of the GLE (so, discounting the 450e) is the GLE 350, which returns fuel economy of 21 mpg city, 28 highway, and 24 combined. The least-efficient version is the AMG GLE 63, which returns 15 mpg city, 19 highway, and 16 combined. The Mercedes-Benz GLE requires premium fuel. ## Interior The GLE-Class comes standard with synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, heated front seats, multiple USB ports, dual-zone automatic climate control, and even a hands-free power lift gate. Available features include genuine leather upholstery, massaging front seats, and quad-zone climate control. ## Technology One big update for the 2024-model-year GLE-Class is the new infotainment system. It’s the second generation of the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system, and it includes wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. ## Safety Standard driver-assistance features in the 2024 GLE include forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, hands-free park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. ## Pricing At the time of this writing, the base MSRP for the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLE is $62,650 for the GLE 350 4Matic. The GLE 450 starts at $69,500, the GLE 450e starts at $69,500, and pricing has not yet been announced for the GLE 580 or the AMG GLE 63 S. The AMG GLE 53 starts at $86,750.
