The 2023 Maserati MC20 is a purebred, high-performance Italian sports car. From its carbon fiber monocoque design to its high-strung engine and taut chassis, the MC20 is a fresh take on the supercar concept.

What’s New for the 2023 Maserati MC20

Introduced for 2022, the MC20 largely carries over into the 2023 model year with minimal changes. The coupe was introduced last year, and for 2023, the Cielo convertible/spyder model joins the lineup.

Design

The MC20 Coupe features butterfly doors that make for a dramatic posture when opened. The Cielo’s convertible top can open or close in about 12 seconds. The retractable roof panel features electrochromic glass that can switch between opaque and clear with the push of a button.

Powertrain

The MC20 is powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine. It makes 612 horsepower and 538 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed to the rear wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox with paddle shifters. The MC20 features four drive modes to get the most out of this taught performance machine: GT, Sport, Corsa, and Wet.

With a curb weight of just 3,757 pounds, the 2023 MC20 is able to sprint from zero to 100 kph (60 mph) in just 2.9 seconds on the way to a top speed of 325 kph (201.9 mph). This potent powertrain returns fuel economy of 15 mpg city, 25 highway, and 18 combined. The MC20 requires premium fuel.

Interior

The minimalist cockpit is designed to allow the driver to focus on the road (or track) ahead. The cockpit features two leather-clad bucket seats, carbon fiber trim, and aluminum pedals. Other interior features include a power-adjustable steering wheel,

Technology

The MC20 features two 10.3-inch digital screens. One is the fully digital instrument panel, and the other is a touchscreen in the center of the dash. The latter runs a revised version of the Fiat/Chrysler Uconnect infotainment system. It has a straightforward layout for the main vehicle functions and drive-mode selection. This touchscreen supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa, as well as navigation. The MC20 also comes with a 12-speaker Sonus Faber premium stereo system.

Safety

The MC20 does not offer many of the high-tech driver-assistance features that the average driver has come to expect in far more affordable vehicles. It is available with blind-spot monitoring, a digital rearview mirror (to help with visibility around the rear engine placement), a 360-degree parking camera, automatic emergency braking, and traffic-sign recognition.

Pricing

At the time of this writing, the 2023 Maserati MC20 has an estimated base MSRP of $217,000. The MC20 Cielo Spyder has an estimated starting price of $250,000. Options include a carbon fiber engine cover ($5,000), carbon ceramic brakes ($10,000), an electronically controlled limited-slip differential ($3,200), and many other high-priced a la carte options. The MC20 is backed by a four-year/50,000-mile powertrain warranty.
