What should I look for when buying a used Kia K5?
Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 81.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
| Model Year | Accident-Free % |

| 2024 | 84.9% |
| 2023 | 78.8% |
| 2022 | 73.8% |
| 2021 | 71.2% |
Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2023 models.
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Kia’s driver-assist suite includes intersection turn assistance, active blind-spot collision avoidance, and a leading vehicle departure alert.
- Infotainment: Every 2025 Kia K5 has a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Fuel efficiency: The official EPA fuel economy estimate is 29 mpg in combined driving.
Which Kia K5 trim should I buy?
The 2025 Kia K5 offers these trims:
- LXS: The affordable entry point, with the core K5 design and equipment that make it a strong value pick.
- GT-Line: Adds sporty styling, available all-wheel drive, and a navigation system; this is the best-value trim for many shoppers.
- EX: Brings the most upscale feel, with the 24-inch Panoramic Display and a more premium cabin presentation.
- GT: The performance-focused choice, with the turbocharged 2.5-liter engine, sport-tuned suspension, faster steering ratio, and larger brakes.
What Kia K5 do most buyers choose?
The Kia K5 years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2025.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 2,710 | 35.1% |
| 2023 | 2,449 | 34.1% |
| 2025 | 2,358 | 34.7% |
| 2022 | 2,351 | 33.7% |
| 2026 | 1,614 | 34.8% |
| 2021 | 1,508 | 32.8% |
Higher-volume years usually give you more choices, which can make it easier to compare trims, mileage, and pricing. They also tend to be the years shoppers cross-shop most often, so inventory stays especially active.
What is the Kia K5's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 | $19,913 | −9.43% |

For the safest used buy, the 2022 model posts the highest confirmed score of 9/10.
Should I buy a used Kia K5 now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −2.17% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −4.82%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 34.7% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 35.1%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $24,939. The Kia K5 offers distinctive styling that helps it stand out in the midsize sedan class.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The latest K5 pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 191 horsepower and 182 pound-feet of torque, while the GT uses a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 290 hp and 311 lb-ft.
- Tech: The latest K5 has a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Kia Connect services.
- Safety: The latest K5 adds Highway Driving Assist on GT-Line, plus a surround-view camera system, blind-spot cameras, side parking sensors, and automatic braking when reversing on EX or the GT1 Package.
- Starting price: Prices range from $28,145 to $35,645, including the destination charge.
If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Reviewed a 2025 Kia GT-Line FWD on Apr 26, 2025
I only had the car 2 month but drove it to Florida (all around) and back and put on 3,500 miles. My car is a GT-Line, Wolf Grey with the Red interior, Bose speakers etc. The car is a real pleasure to drive. Very Quiet on the road, and my mileage exceeded the 36 mpg epa rating, and that’s while maintaining speeds of 80 mph with 2 people and fully loaded with luggage. (about 38 mpg) Little if any wind noise. Note that at times I hit much higher speeds not knowing since it was so quiet & smooth. The engine RPM was mostly between 2 to 2.1 at 80mph. The power of the 2.5 liter is good, and slightly better than the 2019 Camry I had, which was a very good car as well. The Bose 12 speaker system sounded great, and all the alert sensors and some other sensors like keeping your car steering between the lines worked very well, but I preferred to turn that off most of the time. If you turn on your turning signals to changing lanes, and a car is present, not only does your side mirrors alert you, but you’ll get sound notices and the steering wheel will vibrate. Triple redundancy. The handling is very good, and secure, brakes are excellent and has a very good feel to them. A very important note is, I appreciate that the 2.5 engine has both Direct & Port Injectors on each cylinder. Port injectors will help cleaned the valves and clear any carbon build up. This is the same arrangement my Camry 2019 had which greatly reduces or eliminates carbon buildup in these Direct Inject Engines. The Nav system worked flawlessly and quickly. I also love you can remotely start your car with the key FOB (No additional charge) or with Kia Connect though Kia connect is only free the 1st 3 years. Also, happily, it doesn’t have the stop & start engine control which can cause more wear on your starter motor with little gain on MPG. The seats are very comfortable as I can attest driving 12 hours straight on my first stop. The car’s 8 spd auto shifted smoothly in all conditions. Plenty of room inside. Lot of storage in the console area for incidentals and drinks. I enjoyed the Panoramic roof. The negative was the Combine toggle Climate & Media control is a bit counter intuitive and sometimes causes more effort to control. Trunk space is good, as I had lots of luggage. The car feels solid & hopefully reliable down the line. The only other negative which is because I do my own oil changes etc, is this car takes a Cartridge oil filter (Not spin on) and takes 6.1 quarts of oil, (Not 5 qts) but I knew this well before I bought it but it’s location and design is good. So it’s not a real big deal, but this will cost a little more for oil changes. Recommended oil chg is 7,500 but I’ll be doing it every 5 to 6K for sure. BTW recommended oil is 0 -30W. Based on my limited time but very heavy usage I highly recommend this car, and I really enjoy driving it. Very sporty looking and lots of featrues.

Reviewed a 2024 Kia K5 on Aug 22, 2023
K5 GT Line features comfortable seats with plenty of room and great looks. Estimated miles to empty is incredibly accurate. Touch screen software and computer is really fast with no lag. The wireless phone charger does not seem to work and I have the iPhone 14 pro max with no case on it. Car does not have wireless Apple CarPlay. You have to plug it in. The standard speakers sound amazing! Sometimes backing up the car will lock up the wheels if it detects people or cars behind you, but keeps it locked too long preventing you from backing up again when there’s nothing in the way. All around, it’s been a fantastic car.

Kia K5 test drive
overall

Need a midsize sedan? Check out the refreshed 2025 Kia K5.
Kia has updated the stylish 2025 K5 with new exterior lighting, revised front and rear styling, and redesigned wheels. The only turbocharged version is now the GT sports sedan; other K5 models have a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with less real-world driving punch than the previously-standard turbo four. New technology, redesigned dashboard controls, and more standard features are also on the menu, and Kia’s family car remains a good value.
Verdict: Unfortunately, the 2025 Kia K5 still doesn’t offer a hybrid powertrain like its corporate cousin, the Hyundai Sonata, does. It’s also less enjoyable to drive, thanks to this year’s engine swap. However, the new tech impresses, the K5 remains stylish and comfortable, and it costs less than some rivals.
