What should I look for when buying a used Hyundai Sonata Hybrid?
Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 80.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
| Model Year | Accident-Free % |
|---|---|
| 2026 | 90.4% |
| 2025 | 90.5% |
| 2024 | 93.4% |
| 2023 | 91% |
| 2022 | 87.2% |
| 2021 | 79.2% |
| 2020 | 68.8% |
| 2019 | 69% |
| 2018 | 53.3% |
| 2017 | 69% |
| 2016 | 61.7% |
| 2015 | 61.5% |

Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Blind-spot collision warning with rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, forward collision-avoidance assist, safe exit warning and assist, lane-following and lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go functionality, automatic emergency braking, and rear occupant alert.
- Infotainment: Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus the curved display that combines the infotainment touchscreen and driver-information display into a single panel.
- Fuel efficiency: 47 mpg combined.
Which Hyundai Sonata Hybrid trim should I buy?
The 2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid offers these trims:
- SEL: The best-value trim, with the curved display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, a six-speaker sound system, HD Radio, Sirius XM, and two rear-seat USB charging ports.
- Limited: Adds navigation, natural language voice-recognition, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, a turn-signal-activated blind-spot-view monitor, a surround-view monitor, Hyundai’s Highway Driving Assist system, and Remote Smart Parking Assist.
What Hyundai Sonata Hybrid do most buyers choose?
The Hyundai Sonata Hybrid years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2026.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 455 | 26.4% |
| 2025 | 423 | 28.4% |
| 2026 | 324 | 28.1% |
| 2023 | 322 | 25.5% |
| 2022 | 281 | 24.2% |
| 2015 | 169 | 29% |
The highest-volume years tend to be the easiest to shop because you get more inventory to compare and a better chance of finding the right color, mileage, and equipment mix. They also tend to be the most visible in the market, which helps you benchmark pricing and deal quality.
What is the Hyundai Sonata Hybrid's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2014 | $7,493 | −13.61% |
| 2016 | $10,222 | −12.3% |
| 2021 | $17,979 | −9.59% |

| 2023 | $23,581 | −0.81% |
| 2024 | $26,698 | −0.19% |
Most model years in the table are trending lower year over year, which can work in your favor if you're shopping used. The newest examples are changing only slightly, while older ones show larger drops that can create more attractive entry points for budget-minded buyers. The 2023 and 2024 model years are holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year. The 2024, 2023, and 2022 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Just got my cheeks on the 2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid, and I’m loving it. The gas mileage is insane, I’m getting around 50 mpg! The switch between electric and gas is so smooth, you barely notice it. Inside, it’s super comfy and spacious. The tech is easy to use, and the infotainment system works great with my phone. Get the limited trim if you like music, if not the SEL is cheaper and lighter and probably just so ever more efficient. Surprisingly, it’s got a nice bit of kick when you need it. Overall, it’s a great mix of efficiency, style, and practicality. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market for a hybrid.

Hyundai Sonata Hybrid test drive
overall
Styling and tech updates enhance this fuel-efficient midsize sedan.
It’s easy to discount the value of a family sedan with so many crossovers on the road. But the fact is that this body style makes a lot of sense for a lot of families. The more manageable and maneuverable the vehicle, the better for teaching budding young drivers. Lighter weight also translates to better fuel economy, not to be sneered at when there are mouths to feed and tuitions to pay. And your typical midsize sedan is plenty spacious for four.
Fortunately, automakers have not forgotten about the venerable family sedan, keeping one another on their toes with updates, and it’s consumers who stand to benefit from that sort of healthy competition. Now, it’s the 2024 Hyundai Sonata’s turn for a mid-generation refresh.
Verdict: We already liked the Sonata Hybrid, and this refresh only improves it. The styling update and generous standard feature set make it a compelling choice, and the real automatic transmission is a virtually unique selling point.
