Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Hyundai SmartSense driver-assistance suite
- Infotainment: 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Fuel efficiency: 51 mpg city, 58 mpg highway, and 54 mpg combined
Which Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?
The 2024 Hyundai Elantra offers these trims:
- SE: The entry trim brings the 2.0-liter four-cylinder, CVT, 8-inch touchscreen, and the core safety suite, making it the value-focused starting point.
- SEL: This trim adds the 10.25-inch touchscreen and moves you into a more feature-rich setup for shoppers who want a stronger balance of equipment and price.
- SEL Sport: This version adds a sportier appearance and sits between the core volume trims and the more upscale choices.
- SEL Sport Premium: This trim builds on the sport-oriented setup with more equipment for buyers who want extra content without jumping to the top end.
- Limited: The Limited adds the 10.25-inch touchscreen, blind-spot cameras, adaptive cruise control, rear emergency braking, a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist, making it the best choice if you want the most technology.
- N Line: The N Line adds the 1.6-liter turbo-four, seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, 201 hp, 195 lb-ft, an eight-speaker Bose stereo, and a wireless charging pad, and it stands out as the best-value pick for buyers who want the most engaging everyday driving experience.
- N: The standalone performance model adds the 2.0-liter turbo engine with 276 hp and 289 lb-ft, plus the eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox and the most serious performance hardware in the lineup.
What Hyundai Elantra do most buyers choose?
The Hyundai Elantra years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 6,168 | 36.1% |
| 2025 | 5,774 | 36.4% |
| 2023 | 3,972 | 36.4% |
| 2026 | 3,871 | 35.9% |
| 2022 | 2,616 | 34.8% |
| 2019 | 2,337 | 29.7% |
Those high-volume years tend to be popular because they combine broad availability with newer features and strong value. More listings also give you more room to compare trims, prices, and condition before you buy.

Most Elantra model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want prices that have softened. The declines are generally larger on older examples, while a few newer years have eased more gradually. One model year is moving slightly higher, but the overall pattern still favors used buyers.
The 2020, 2025, and 2023 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Should I buy a used Hyundai Elantra now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −3.71% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −5.45%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 36.4% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 36.1%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $19,519. The Hyundai Elantra offers a roomy cabin and a broad mix of trims, which makes it easy to match to your budget and feature needs.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The latest model pairs a 2.0-liter inline-four with 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque in the core trims, while the N Line brings 201 hp and 195 lb-ft and the Elantra N delivers 276 hp and 289 lb-ft.
- Tech: The latest model adds a 10.25-inch touchscreen on SEL-and-above trims, blind-spot cameras on the Limited, and a Wi-Fi hotspot plus digital key functionality.
- Safety: The latest model adds rear emergency braking, a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist on the Limited.
- Starting price: The vehicle starts at $21,625.
If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

The car was a great value for the money I spent. It had plenty of features, and ultimately great MPG and price. I loved that it still has manufactuer warranty and is a certified-pre owned. I did wish it supported Hyundai's digital key, but the BlueLink is another phenomenal feature, other than having to pay every year. For other cars in this class such as the Civic, Corolla, Forte, K4, Impreza etc. It is reasonably priced, only competitive with the K4. If I wanted all of these features in one of those other vehicles especiallt the Civic I would be paying significantly more.

Hyundai Elantra test drive
overall
The Hyundai Elantra is the sportiest-looking and most versatile compact car on sale.
For nearly 20 years over six generations, the Elantra established Hyundai as a provider of bottom-rung transportation. Not until the current seventh-generation model debuted in 2020 did the Elantra shed its cheap image and stand competitively with other compact sedans from Honda, Toyota, and Nissan. Hyundai always sold on low prices and long warranties. Now the Elantra is a genuinely sporty, well-constructed car that competes on actual substance—namely, how it drives and feels—and offers a wider range of trim levels. For 2024, a mild refresh brings more style and standard equipment.
Verdict: Get past the strange bodywork and plasticky interior, and you’ll find a well-mannered sedan that is equally adept at being comfortable and economical as it is sporty and truly entertaining.
