The Ridgeline is very comfortable, spacious and user friendly. It’s also very attractively priced compared to less than full sized trucks that it competes with.

Reviewed a 2025 Honda Ridgeline on Oct 31, 2025
I started my truck search looking at full-size trucks, but honestly didn’t want the exterior size to be that big. Just on a side, have you noticed how a lot of the worst drivers on the road are driving the big full-size trucks? I didn’t know the purpose of having a Hemi to actually run people off the road. You know what I mean? That dude is barreling down the interstate doing about 87mph pulling a big @$$ box trailer and he’s like fish tailing all over the place? Back to the review. I drove a Jeep Gladiator, a Tacoma, a Colorado and the Nissan Frontier. The Gladiator was almost scary on the highway. Lots of wind noise and blowing me all over the place even at the lower highway speeds around 55-60mpg. For that reason, it didn’t make sense to me as a daily driver on paved roads. While the new Colorado and Tacoma have that brawny stance, neither of them have a V6. What’s the deal with the 4 banger turbo thing? It’s like Arnold Schwarzenegger in that old Christmas movie, “Jingle All The Way.” “I have to get the “Turbo Man!!” What they are not telling you about the 4 cylinder turbo stuff is that even if a 4 cylinder engine has the power of Ivan Drago in Rocky 4, it is working harder to produce that power compared to the naturally aspirated V6. Multiple mechanics I know personally have said the same thing. Inside, both Tac and Colorado were small and cramped. At first glance, you think they are going to be bigger inside then they are. This was disappointing and strange given how the outside is larger than their prior generations. An odd tech. thing about the Colorado was that you actually turn the headlights on using the touch screen. I also thought that the inside materials in the Colorado felt cheap. That glossy plastic stuff if you know what I mean. I liked the tow rating, but decided to keep shopping. The Frontier was actually my second favorite truck behind the Ridgeline. The naturally aspirated V6 instead of the turbo was already setting it above the other trucks. Then, I drove the Ridgeline and it was like Wow!! This thing rocks!! Honda’s proven reliable V6, smooth driving, yet flexible enough on the dirt or gravel roads, I can fit a 4x8 sheet of plywood flat in the bed because there’s no stupid wheel well hump. I absolutely love the tailgate swing out! It gets my body closer to whatever goods I am lifting out of the back instead of having to lean forward. Honda nailed it with this feature! Plus, let me just say that Ridgeline’s interior almost feels like a full size truck. I have tall teenage boys and the first thing they said when they got in the Ridgeline was “Wow dad!! This is nice and big inside!” Plus, as roomy as it is, I like that Ridgeline fits in a standard garage space too! If you get heavy rains, or it happens to snow, it’s nice to be covered when you want to be. You’ve got drive settings for different terrain and that suits my needs. Another reviewer said the Ridgeline meets the needs of 80% of people driving trucks and he nailed it with that statement. it’s absolutely true. A lot of people are driving big trucks and Jeeps and they never actually use them for the purpose they are intended for. You have those folks that don’t actually need 4 wheel drive. If you’re like me, you want a truck that gives you the utility you need, want to grab some landcape supplies, sheet goods, farm or garden stuff, and rides awesome on both paved and gravel or dirt roads, this is the truck for you. Don’t you love these guys with Jeep fantasies that make stupid videos criticizing Honda trying to create skepticism like…. “Can it do any serious off roading?” You can’t criticize it for something it’s not designed for. If you want a rock crawler you get a Jeep or something similar (locking differential, higher ground clearance, a lift, bigger rubber etc,).

This truck is a great option for those who need the utility of a truck but don't need\want a full-size truck. The back seats are comfortable and the stowaway compartment in the truck bed is incredibly useful for most of my needs (sporting gear, grocery shopping, picnic stuff, etc.). Add a tonneau cover and it should cover most Costco trips. So basically, a good suburbanite vehicle. Decent gas mileage and has excellent tech in the cabin. Nice, smooth ride and adequate power.

The Honda Ridgeline is an excellent choice for a consumer that still needs a truck for odds and ends but doesn't want to spend a ridiculous amount of money on a full-size or heavy duty truck. You get all the technology that an upper trim level full-size truck offers for half the price.

Overview
In nearly 20 years on the US market, Honda’s midsize pickup has carved out a niche. It’s known for providing most of the practicality of a pickup truck with all of the on-road composure and comfort of an SUV. Still in its second generation, the Ridgeline gets some significant enhancements to that comfort for 2024, while also adding some off-road capability to its repertoire.
What’s New for the 2024 Honda Ridgeline
The big news is that the Ridgeline is getting the TrailSport treatment for 2024. Though the trim is new to the Ridgeline lineup, we’ve seen it on other Honda models. (The Honda Passport SUV, for example, also just got a TrailSport trim for the 2024 model year.) That earns the Ridgeline a spot, for the first time, on the lists of shoppers who need a touch of off-road ability in their pickup truck.
Design
The Ridgeline’s exterior styling carries over more or less unchanged for 2024, save for a few minor updates: Most notably, the truck now has its model name spelled out across the tailgate. “Diffused Sky,” a bright enamel blue color previously seen on the Pilot and the Passport, is now available, though exclusive to the TrailSport trim. The trim also gets black trim pieces, a more rugged grille, and unique 18-inch wheels, and it sports orange TrailSport badges.
Powertrain
The 2024 Honda Ridgeline is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine making 280 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. It comes standard with Honda’s i-VTM4 torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive (AWD) system and can tow up to 5,000 lbs. The new Ridgeline TrailSport has a specially tuned suspension to allow for better articulation off-road, and it also comes equipped with all-terrain tires and with steel skid plates to protect the underbody from damage while traversing rocks. The unibody Ridgeline has earned a reputation for distinctly un-truck-like on-road manners, and Honda says we should expect the same from the TrailSport in spite of the measures taken to optimize its suspension for off-road adventures.
Interior
Like the Honda Passport, the Ridgeline gets a center console redesign for 2024. The storage bin now doubles as an armrest, making the fold-down, seat-mounted armrests a thing of the past, and Honda emphasized storage space in the new console. There’s room for two smartphones to lie side by side in front of the gear shifter, the console bin is large enough to fit a full-sized tablet, and even the cupholders are larger than they were last year.
The new TrailSport trim features orange accents inside, and the Ridgeline retains Honda’s clever flip-up rear seats, which can be locked against the rear wall of the cabin to provide more covered cargo space when the bed just won’t cut it.
Technology
Technology was the one area that significantly lowered the 2023 Ridgeline’s overall score in testing by CarGurus experts. Clearly, Honda was aware that it left something to be desired, and they’ve taken steps to improve matters for 2024. The Ridgeline now comes standard with a 9-inch touchscreen, and the infotainment system itself has been updated with a faster processor for better response. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard, along with a wireless charging pad, which was previously limited to the top two trims. 2024 also sees the introduction of a new standard 7-inch digital driver-information display.
Safety
The Ridgeline continues to come standard with the Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver-assistance tech. For 2023, this did not include standard blind-spot monitoring or rear cross-traffic alert systems–both were available, but only on higher trims. Likewise, front and rear parking sensors are traditionally a higher-trim feature for the Ridgeline, which we expect to be true into 2024 as well. However, 2024 Ridgeline buyers can all expect adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and more. The 2023 model earned high marks in crash testing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), losing a star only on rollover resistance, a challenge typical of its class.
Pricing
The 2024 Honda Ridgeline is due at dealerships this winter. Honda has not shared pricing information as of this writing, but because it continues the second generation, we expect the 2024 Ridgeline to be offered with only modest increases for the new model year. The new TrailSport trim will likely sit at the higher end of the Ridgeline’s pricing spectrum.
