What’s New for the 2024 GMC Terrain

The Terrain is largely unchanged for the 2024 model year. It was last refreshed in 2022. For 2024, GMC adds two new colors from which to choose.

Design

Trims for the Terrain are SLE, SLT, AT4, and Denali. The SLE comes with 17-inch aluminum wheels, and the SLT comes with 18-inch wheels. The AT4 has slightly more rugged styling, including skid plates, 17-inch black wheels, and sport terrain tires. The range-topping Denali trim comes with 19-inch alloy wheels and chrome exterior details.

Powertrain

No matter which trim is selected, the GMC Terrain comes equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. It produces 175 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. Power is routed through a nine-speed automatic to the front wheels or to available all-wheel drive (AWD). The Terrain AT4 comes standard with AWD, as well as an off-road driving mode. The Denali trim features an upgraded suspension system. The GMC Terrain has a tow rating of just 1,500 pounds.

EPA estimates for the 2024 GMC Terrain with front-wheel drive (FWD) are 24 mpg city, 29 highway, and 26 combined. The AWD version returns fuel economy of 23 mpg city, 28 highway, and 25 combined.

Interior

Standard features on the SLE trim include remote keyless entry, push-button start, cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and automatic climate control. A number of features are optional on the SLE, including a wall-style power outlet and navigation.

Stepping up to the SLT trim adds a power-adjustable front seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, and leather upholstery. The AT4 adds a heated steering wheel.

With the rear seats folded, the Terrain provides up to 63.3 cubic feet of cargo space. With the rear seats in use, it provides 29.6 cubic feet of cargo space. The Terrain comes standard with a manual liftgate. The SLT comes with a power liftgate, and the AT4 and Denali trims come equipped with a hands-free power liftgate.

Technology

The standard infotainment system is a 7-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. An 8-inch touchscreen is optional on the SLE and standard for the rest of the lineup. The Terrain also comes with a Wi-Fi hotspot and four USB ports. Available tech features include wireless device charging, satellite radio, and navigation.

Safety

The 2024 Terrain comes standard with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, and lane-departure warning. Available safety tech includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, head-up display, hands-free parking assist, and a 360-degree parking camera system.

Pricing

At the time of this writing, base MSRP for the 2024 GMC Terrain is $30,095 for SLE trim. The SLT starts at $34,095, the AT4 starts at $36,890, and the range-topping Denali starts at $39,995. The GMC Terrain is backed by a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
