FAQs
The Raptor edition of the Ford Bronco was introduced in 2022, edging in on competitors like the Jeep Wrangler and the Toyota 4Runner.
## What’s New for the 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor
Now in its second year, the 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor carries over unchanged. This off-road-ready variant of the family-friendly Bronco SUV enhances its already-impressive all-terrain capabilities with a wider body, upgraded hardware, and plenty of attitude. It’s an expensive proposition, costing more than twice what an entry-level Bronco would cost, but for lucky buyers, the fun factor and extra performance are worth it.
## Design
The Bronco is retro-styled and boxy; the Bronco Raptor even more so, with a body that’s 9.8 inches wider and black fender flares that bulge over the beadlock wheels and 37-inch all-terrain tires. Other elements are similarly functional, such as the hood’s heat extractors, the rugged underbody protection, and the removable body panels. Unlike the base Bronco, the Raptor comes only in four-door configuration.
## Powertrain
The Bronco Raptor comes standard with a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 engine rated for 418 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque, paired with a a 10-speed automatic transmission. Other features include standard four-wheel drive (4WD), a two-speed transfer case, and the G.O.A.T. Mode (“goes over any terrain”) drive mode selector. Though every Bronco gets the G.O.A.T. treatment, the Raptor ups the ante by adding a desert-running Baja mode to the regular lineup of pavement, sand, and snow modes.
## Interior
What’s happening outside the Bronco Raptor is just as important as what’s happening inside, so to that end, it includes the Bronco’s signature removable doors, choice of fabric top or removable hard top, and weather-protected cabin so you can easily hose down the interior after a tough, dirty day. That said, the Bronco Raptor is available only in the four-door body style. The cabin itself features carbon fiber and orange contrast trim to dress up the boxy, utilitarian styling without going overboard, and numerous accessories are available to help hold your gear in place.
## Technology
The Bronco Raptor’s technology features are just comprehensive enough to keep you comfortable and entertained during all the time you won’t be on the trail. Ford supplies the Sync 4 infotainment system with a 12-inch touchscreen display and user-friendly menus. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, along with a 12-inch digital instrument cluster.
## Safety
Though the the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) don’t crash-test the Bronco Raptor separately, the regular Bronco gets mixed crash-test scores from both, particularly when it comes to rollover protection. Ford equips the Bronco Raptor with the Co-Pilot 360 active safety and driver-assistance package. This bundles features such as a surround-view camera system, frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and front parking sensors. Buyers can add adaptive cruise control and evasive steering assist.
## Pricing
As of this writing, Ford lists pricing for the 2023 Bronco Raptor at $73,780. That’s a substantial premium over the base Bronco starting price of $32,295 for a two-door model, but includes all of the performance upgrades and premium features mentioned here. The 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor is on sale now.
5 Overall rating
(4 reviews)MSRP at $98,000 and sales price at $82,000 was a great value at other dealerships and Bronco’s I viewed. I have t driven a Bronco enough to give a total review, but like it so far.
