The Chevrolet Blazer returned to the new-car market in 2019 as a gas-powered crossover. It continues to evolve into a fully electric crossover, dubbed the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV.

What’s New for the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV

While it may share (most of) its name with the traditionally powered Chevy Blazer, the Blazer EV is a completely new, ground-up electric vehicle (EV) for the 2024 model year.

Design

The Blazer EV shares a number of design cues with its internal combustion sibling. It features flared fenders, a faux grille, and a wagon-like crossover profile. Trims for the Blazer EV are LT2, RS, and SS. The RS features 21-inch wheels, while the SS boasts 22-inch machine-faced wheels and unique styling elements. The RS and SS both feature a bold light bar connecting the two headlights.

Powertrain

The dual-motor Chevy Blazer EV RS all-wheel drive (AWD) makes a combined 288 horsepower and 333 pound-feet of torque, and the range-topping SS AWD puts out a combined 557 horsepower and 648 pound-feet of torque. There will also be a single-motor SS with the motor at the rear wheels. Output figures for this model and the front-wheel-drive 2LT will be available at a later date.

The SS AWD has a WOW (Wide-Open Watts) feature that brings the motors to their maximum output, allowing for a zero to sixty time of just four seconds.

While horsepower figures are not yet known for the front-wheel-drive (FWD) versions, we can report that the FWD 2LT will have an estimated range of 293 miles and the FWD RS is expected to be able to travel up to 320 miles on a single charge. These are preliminary estimates. The AWD versions of the 2LT and RS will both have a range of 279 miles, and the SS AWD will have a range of 290 miles. Thanks to DC fast charging, the Blazer EV will be able to add as much as 78 miles of range in as little as 10 minutes.

Interior

Standard features on the Blazer EV 2LT trim include synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. Moving up to the RS trim adds a head-up display, heated rear seats, ventilated front seats, and a sport-style flat-bottom steering wheel. The Blazer EV provides up to 59.1 cubic feet of cargo space, accessed via a standard hands-free power liftgate.

Technology

The 2024 Blazer EV comes standard with a fully digital instrument panel, as well as a 17.7-inch central touchscreen. It also comes standard with wireless device charging and wireless smartphone connectivity.

Safety

Standard driver-assistance features on the Blazer EV include automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and automatic high beams. It’s also available with reverse automatic braking and an automatic parking assistant. The Blazer EV can be equipped with GM’s Super Cruise partial self-driving technology.

Pricing

At the time of this writing, only limited pricing information has been revealed. We do know that the LT1 trim has been dropped, and that the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV in the AWD LT2 trim starts at $56,715. The AWD RS trim starts at $60,215. The SS trim starts at $65,995. The battery and electric components for the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV are protected by an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty.
