Which BMW M4 trim should I buy?
The 2025 BMW M4 offers...
- M4: The base coupe gives you the six-speed manual, the least power in the lineup, and the best fit if you want the most engaging setup and the lowest entry point.
- M4 Competition: This trim adds the 503 hp tune and the M Steptronic sport eight-speed automatic, making it the best-value choice if you want stronger acceleration and a more performance-focused automatic setup.
- M4 Competition xDrive: This version adds the 523 hp output and xDrive traction with RWD, AWD, and sport AWD modes, making it the pick for maximum pace and all-weather confidence.
What BMW M4 do most buyers choose?
The BMW M4 years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2025.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 353 | 32.6% |
| 2024 | 341 | 32.6% |
| 2025 | 313 | 35.1% |
| 2022 | 267 | 30.7% |
| 2021 | 223 | 33.6% |
| 2016 | 207 | 32.4% |
These higher-volume years tend to be the easiest to shop because you get more inventory to compare and more chances to find the right color, mileage, and equipment mix. They also tend to be the years most shoppers cross-shop first when looking for a used M4.
