About Us

Sir Walter Chevrolet is a family-owned and operated dealership spanning four generations. We have called Raleigh home since 1928 (yes, nearly a Century!). In fact, Sir Walter Chevrolet was the very first Chevrolet dealership in Raleigh when we opened our doors in the Sir Walter Fire District on October 1st, 1928. We moved to our current location at 8501 Glenwood Avenue in 1997 after spending 69 years in the heart of downtown Raleigh, an effort aimed at giving us the ability to serve more customers in the greater Raleigh community. We recently remodeled this facility to accommodate a 21st-century buying experience, including a state-of-the-art showroom and a completely upgraded waiting area for our service customers.

Our salesman Brendan was very knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient. The vehicle we called about was pulled up in front waiting for us when we arrived. Printed Carfax history and pricing paperwork was provided to take with us so we could think about the vehicle. They did not waste our time. A great experience.

Perfect. Dealership contacted me within 10 minutes of my reaching out. I told them I was interested but would be driving 2 hours to see the vehicle. They put a hold on the vehicle until I could get there and they had it ready to go upon my arrival. We completed the deal and I was on the way home with my new truck within 2 hours. I could not recommend them enough. Ask for Dana. He was a rock star.

Ryan was great & helped identify the Corvette I was looking for online. Once I discovered the exhaust was modified all communication ended and used car manager Theo said the car was sold. The links for videos Ryan had kindly taken were disabled and I was ignored. My follow up consisted of making sure the new out of state buyer was notified they purchased a modified Corvette. Best of luck to future buyers of Sir Walter Chevrolet. BUYER BEWARE

i set up an appointment to test drive this car at 1:30 i was there at 1:15 and minutes before i get there after driving 2 hours to do this the car was sold from under me no notification or anything i was going on thr rep i had hear about sir walter chevy i got fooled maybe it was just me that they did not like but im was highly disappointed maybe other people have better experiences but i can't say it

The staff has been very attentive and communicative. I live in Statesville and would have only been able to visit on the weekends when I am off and not planning to visit somewhere closer to do test drives. Unfortunately, the vehicle that was very ideal sold a few days before I could visit on Saturday. I was alerted by email and test and that was helpful.

This was by far the easiest car buying experience that I have had. After the dealership contacted me we set up a time to meet and they had the vehicle ready to test drive when I got there. During the sales process there was no pressure to ever buy this vehicle and no pressure to upgrade to a more expensive one either. They also gave me slightly above KBB for my trade in to help me reach the financing I was comfortable with. The sales rep that helped me was Elijah and if you get the opportunity I would suggest working with him.

Every was super friendly and from the minute we drove on the lot, someone was there to help us and Jorge was very helpful with my purchase. Also met all my needs and wants with the replacement of the front tires as they are bald on the outsides. They will put two new tires on when they arrive.

Good car - but dealer was unreasonable - would not fix any flaws of vehicle, would not take a deposit to keep vehicle from being sold - instead it became a race to the dealership with the money. Every time I called or visited, there was someone else on the way with the money, but the vehicle never sold. I will not be pressured into any purchase - especially a car. Prices are good, but cannot recommend this dealer to anyone - if you choose to deal with them - be careful and beware the pressure techniques.

The had the car available. It was on CarGurus for $87k. They would not answer my question on whetger they selling for that price. Eventually the price changed on the site and they quoted $110000. Then it came off car gurus and showed sold. I asked if it was sold, but it was available. With the huge dealer markup.

Very pushy and tried to force me to sign papers and start a loan before the vehicle even arrived. I even offered to put $1,000 down to hold the vehicle and they said i had to pay in full even thought the car was t here yet. Would not recommend buying anything from them!

These guys were great. Really fought hard to get Us as close to our goal payment as they could. The car had an oil leak after we left the lot, and since it’s an Audi it wasn’t warrantied but they still fixed it for us. Truly a great experience.

First off, let me start by saying I wound up purchasing the vehicle because of the professionalism shown by Abdul. Can I say that I would buy from the dealership again? Probably not. Would not accept a deposit on a vehicle during the COVID 19 outbreak even though they reduced their hours and absolutely would not work with me to accomodate my schedule. Abdul went above and beyond to make the experience as positive as he could and salvage a sale even though management couldn't get it done. Ask for Abdul, if they give you Fernando or Dave, look elsewhere.

Farhan Abbasi was my sales consultant and was very helpful, knowledgeable, and nice to work with. Test drive experience was great and dealership staff were friendly and accommodating. If I had it to do all over again the only thing I would change is having other transportation available while the car is being detailed after sale was finalized. Even though they rushed it was a couple hours wait and I could still tell the job was rushed. I absolutely love my vehicle! Thank you Sir Walter Chevrolet and Farhan for a great car buying experience! I would definitely recommend this dealership to my family and friends in need.

I contacted the Dealership after seeing an advertisement. I sent an email and left a voucemail saying that I wanted to purchase a car I saw advertised for $33K. The Dealership called me back and couldn't find the car ad. I sent them a screenshot of the ad. Then a few minutes later the price of the car changed online. It was originally advertised for $33K and then changed to $40K. The Dealership manager told me that the price is set to change automatically by the marketing team, but he said he would honor the price I took a picture of because I contacted them at the time the price was advertised. I chose not to do business with them.

Yes. They contacted me. But they still do not have an asking price. If they are going to advertise a vehicle, then advertise the price. Their response, “They’ve been to busy to price it out yet.” It’s has been advertised for at least 3 weeks.

Called dealer and Abdul was my salesman. He confirmed by telephone the total price of the truck would be 27,565 due to me not qualifying for the lease trade in discount, completely understandable. I drive an hour and a half to get there Saturday July 20th. Salesman pulls truck around for me to view while the "manager" is driving my trade around the parking lot to determine trade amount. I looked at the new truck and noticed the "accessory" bed liner installed was all bowed out and looked horrible...salesman Abdul even made a comment that "yeah they didn't install it right"....theeen proceeds to tell me that theres an extra over $2,000 they added to price for "accessories"!!!! That brought the truck to almost 30 thousand....seriously?! Handed Abdul the keys and said I'm not interested, he never even asked why. Got my keys back from guy driving my truck and smelled like the guy farted in there...what!? Made my wife sick. Got a text 4 days later saying the truck was now $1,500 off.smh

Everyone was nice and polite but they won’t give you a fair deal when trading. I had a trade in with a balance of $17,000 they offered me $6000. I know I had some negative equity but that is ridiculous.

I contacted Sir Walter Chevrolet through CarGurus on a Friday night. A Sir Walter representative sent me an email immediately and a sales representative (River Coffey) contacted me Saturday morning. I spoke with River regarding the vehicle and he graciously sent me more pictures of the vehicle. We agree to meet regarding the vehicle on Monday morning. I met River on Monday morning and after inspecting the vehicle and a test drive, we started paperwork for purchase. I applaud River and the Sir Walter Chevrolet staff as they helped me get financing for this vehicle. The experience with the Sir Walter Chevrolet staff was great. If there is a vehicle you are interested in and it is at this dealership.... call them! They are Great!!

Price is not accurate to what was being advertised... called to put a deposit on a new truck and the sales person wouldn’t send me a purchase agreement. The price magically was $10k more than what was advertised on CarGurus.

I found this dealer advertises a very low price for vehicles and when you contact them about a particular car they adjust the price and explain that this price is IF YOU QUALIFY FOR ALL DISCOUNTS. I found this to be unrealistic as no one can qualify for EVERY DISCOUNT.

Their sales intake process is highly irregular. I went there with my own financing. I knew the price of their car and I needed to get my car appraised. They refused to appraise my car without having my payoff (not unreasonable but certainly unnecessary), my dl and insurance information, my registration, etc. None of that information is needed to appraise a car and I have no idea why I was asked for it when and deal was not even on the table. They really need to update their practices. Lastly, I can vouch for the irrelevance of the information because several competitors gave me the deal numbers without any of the requested information with the exception of the payoff. Some of them did not even require me to come in to the store.

The dealership contacted me quickly. They answered my questions within a few email exchanges. However, the price offered was not that as listed on CarGurus...as I didn't qualify for all the incentives...approximately $1, 250.00 more than what was indicated on the internet.... After they gave the price, I called the dealership and explained the above...and still searching for the car.

Drove two hours to see this vehicle. Wasn’t happy that they didn’t provide any pictures of the car’s flaws. Such as the tear in the leather seat, scratches on the lip of the front bumper. Couldn’t get the HUD to work, and only after asking about it when reviewing paperwork, they stated that the manager had a new one ready to be installed. All of this information would have been nice from the start.

The dealer contacted me and put my into a vehicle that fit my budget, needs, and situation. It wasn’t this Nero but they were amazing. Ahmad helped me and he was great, I didn’t feel pressured, it felt natural and for the first time every when buying a car (and I’ve bought a lot) I got what I asked for and they didn’t tell me no. I called for a truck that I was interested in buying and the person who answered me told me that he would return the call in a couple of minutes with all the information of this truck but he never called me back when I contacted them the next day they told me that they already sold and offered me another one with more miles and 2 years older almost the same price when the one that interested me was sold leaving me waiting for the call definitely bad experience of this dealer.

I received an initial email advising that I would be contacted concerning my interest in a vehicle they had listed. I never received a follow up call or message. After waiting approximately 4 days I sent them an email with a cc to CarGurus expressing my disappointment in their failure to respond to my inquiry. I further advised them there was no need for them TJ respond at this late date.

Dealer contacted me , I wish that all dealers would take the time to read comments that were sent in on the original request.. They all reply the same thing when can you come in. If they read what was sent it would explain that sometimes you are hours away and don't have time to waste if they can not meet what you have laid out as a deal you want..i know they cant give a firm price on your trade but they can say yes we are close or no we are too far apart to make the deal you requested.

Advertised price did not include $2009. Worth of dealer included options already installed on vehicle. Their ad is very misleading. Documentation fee is not required by North Carolina State law. Its another scam at jacking up price of the vehicle. I bought from another dealer and saved $3000.

Drove from Hampton Roads Va just to be lied to. Was told I had to finance through them to get the price on Carguru and that the price list on line was not the listed price. Told them before I left my house I'd already been approved by my bank. Just want the vehicle. The car was a 2017 supposed to be brand new. But it had scratchest and what looked like a small dent where something hit the passage door and remove the paint. One would think after being on their lot for 324 days they would want to get rid of it. Hope they enjoy it for another year!

Our salesman Mr Will Lopez, was very friendly, polite, no pressure and easy to talk with, Mr Lopez even had the vehicle we were interested in sitting out front and ready for us to view when we pulled into the dealership. Only issue is I was offered a 12 month warranty but then it was not included in the closing documents - they have provided an email but I am still waiting for the documentation. Overall it was a good car and the price was fair - I don't think they gave me a great value on the trade in but the base care was a good value.

Yes, the sales agent Karen contacted me and I went to Sir Walter Chevrolet and test drove the BRZ. It is a really nice little car. Karen is also following up with me, as I have not decided yet what car to purchase. I plan to test drive one Scion FR-S from another dealership, which is badically the same as the BRZ, but a little bit cheaper at the same age and mileage.

Experience was just through email. Left one telephone msg with a W. Lopez but never got a call back. Had a favorable experience with Emily Hawley who replied timely to my inquiries. Unfortunately, I was looking for an auto trans and the vehicle was manual so I never made it to speak with anyone in person.

SWC responded quickly with e-mail. After conversation with salesman about Equinox specifics he called me back a few hours later with the fact the vehicle had been leased out even though it was still on the website for sale.

Save your time. go somewhere else. They ask high retail for their vehicle and offer you a low book price for yours reguardless nice condition. Fair is trading apples for apples.

There was not a salesperson to help us when we arrived. Someone finally came outside, very apologetic, we waited but then left because they did not have the vehicle we were looking for.

They love selling you a car but be aware. If there are issues with there cars. Sales person Joe will never call you back, David sales manager is very condescending and does not put himself in the clients shoes. No customer service and loyolty after the sales with saying they will call back and no follow up for several time I might add. No communication Internal on what types of cars they fix and the process with there service Department which is scary. The only good experience was with Gary, senior manager at sir Walter and understood and was willing to address the situation with dignity. Thanks Gary but as a 1st time buyer at sir Walter and spending a good amount of money. I will never return! Also purchasing a car for my son and would of really would of loved to do business due to the nature of our sales interaction with everyone but after the sale which is the most vital for the customer, they failed to come through.
