I found a 2022 VW ID4 from VW Kearny Mesa on CarGurus with 7,077 miles. It was very favorably priced compared to comparable
configuration, mileage, and color offered by other dealers on CarGurus for my zip code. I started working with Christian J. on June 10, 2023.
Over the week, we went back and forth on questions, price, etc. and then he proceeded to try to switch and sell me to a 2023 ID4. When I
told him that we were set on the 2022, he then tells me that the car has a recall and won't be available for at least 40 days. I checked the door
handle recall and every ID4 has that recall and there was no VW fix in the foreseeable future. To me, this was a classic bait-and-switch....offer
the lowest price in the market and then try to sell you something else. I can't say that this is the case in this situation, but this is my belief
today since other dealers are aware of the recall and said that it does not prohibit them from selling the car.

1. This listing should be taken down! The dealer is lying about the condition of the car per their statement at CarGurus "the paint has showroom shine". It is the most horrible thing to say when the car has oxidation everywhere, also the bonnet/hood has oxidation and big scratches almost cover all of its surface, like someone tried to buff it but damage it instead by using the wrong tool. This is very bad body/paint damage that should be disclose. If you do not want to disclose it at least do not lie by saying "the paint has showroom paint", it could be a liable. These people were wasting our valuable time.
2. Their customer service is also 2 thumbs down. Daniel made us waiting for a while after he knew we're arrived. Then he must be very embarrassed trying to sell us a very 'beat up car" that he asked his colleague to do the showing.

I purchased the vehicle after going back on forth on which one had what features. I guess VW is shipping
vehicles without key features and then crediting the cost back in the extras section of the Monroney / Window
Sticker in the small print. So I now have a vehicle that is missing some key features. I am unable to verify this
as I was not provided the Monroney sticker. I now requested it 4 times but no responses. Hopefully, someone
will read this and take action as I was under the impression it was a legal requirement to provide this with the
vehicle.
My recommendation - great dealership - good prices but check the paperwork VERY CAREFULLY to make sure
you are getting what was promised.

I was told that this dealer does not take option contracts, aka, outside financing. That is absolutely ridiculous!!! And you don't find out about this until you go to this dealership. I don't remember seeing anything posted online about this. What a joke.

One of the worst experiences attempting to buy a used car I’ve ever had. And I did not even set foot on the lot. I was up front about my challenged finances, but they told me they could work with me regardless. I let them run the numbers before I even went to look, so I didn’t waste anyone’s time, at first, they were quick to contact me, ask me to send in all my info, and ask me how much I wanted to put down. All things I did, openly. The numbers must have not been to their liking because from then on, they treated me like a leper. The same guy who had the time to contact me at 9 am first thing in the morning via text, suddenly forgot how to text, forgot to inform me he wouldn’t be in the next day, even though I had asked for an update the evening before and he did respond saying “ no update yet”. They left me hanging, and sold the car to someone else. I finally got the guy on the phone, and asked did he even want to sell me a car?? I found my own financing, and will shop elsewhere.

Very happy with how the whole experience happened. I was several hours away when I called to ask about the 2 cars I was interested in.
The sales team (Steve) told me he wanted to put eyes on the car before I made the drive. This was important because that day I had already
done a 2 hour drive to a different dealer only to find out the car was in the body shop and not available for 3 days. Once we arrived on site
Steve was very helpful and everything went smoothly. Steve was able to get me an additional 2% off the interest rate I was pre-qualified for
and was able to add a few extras to the sale. I found my favorite car and bought it. Since then I have had multiple conversations with the
dealer over out of state registration where they have been extremely helpful. I will use them in the future if ever I am in the market for a newer
car.

Horrible experience. After 3 days of negotiating the car's final price and trying to
get a PO or Sales Order to take back to my credit union that I was pre-approved
with, the sales person finally volunteered the information that they don't do 3rd
party financing. Only if we financed through them would they sell me the car.

I actually drove over to this dealer. When I got there, there was no parking. I found a spot up front to which a guy ran out and yelled at me not to park there. He didn’t offer any other solution just kept yelling. I parked on the street and went inside to which there was no one in the office. After about ten minutes I MYSELF finally found someone and asked if they had the car advertised to which he sai “no we sold it several days ago.” I asked why they didn’t take the ad down and he just shrugged and didn’t seem interested in my business at all so I left. Worst service ever!

Great experience, I was contacted within a few hours (I had contacted around 2am). And altough the car I had inquiried about was sold, I was able to get a better deal on a different car from the same dealer. José and Gus helped me through the process, they went the extra mile to make sure that I had the best deal possible.
So I highly recommend Kearney Mesa VW if you are in the look for a new car, if you think that you are not completely sure about your purchase, just ask to speak with José or Gus, they are just great, thanks! 5 stars...!

Dealer is very responsive and the staff very courteous unfortunately they have a low profit margin and the prices are set for the most part and there is no warranty on the vehicles 3 day only , and they seem to not check the cars prior to put them up for sale,

We walked onto that lot and were not at all swarmed as in some places we worked with harold whod showed us a vehicle we thought was the correct vehicle (he didnt pay enough attention to the pictures to realize the one we wanted wasnt ready yet) he was super knowledgeable and super helpful. Through no fault of his or the dealership we did not buy the vehicle but if we had and though we didnt we HIGHLY recommend coming here to buy your next new or used vehicle!

Awesome customer service. Quick to get back to me with questions. Only negative of the whole experience was the finance officer trying to strong arm me into buying extra packages. He "did extra work and found me a better rate". He attempted to guilt trip me in to buying the rain guard package because he gets a small cut. When i refused he went on this rather aggressive rant on how I " didnt care he put in extra work" and that his "hard work must mean nothing to me". This was obviously a marketing scheme. They get you to buy into a certain rate and monthly payment. They keep a better one in thier back pocket until you are ready to sign the car. Then whoaa we found a better rate! That also just so happens to be low enough from the original that if you buy thier packages, your monthly bill stays about the same. So dont fall for the trap and youll be okay.

Alleged internet manager playing games about the OTD price claiming it's not used car because it's the GM's demo model even though it has miles. What's more, he was trying to sell it for more than new ones run for because it has extras. Wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy.

Takes time to respond. Have to bug them to be responsive. Submitted application in the afternoon and their sales rep responded only after 2 hours to confirm he received it. & said will process my application the next day. Next day their sales rep responded contacted me about noon to let me know vehicle has sold.

Called dealer and car was available for sale. I live in NY and was willing to
pay for car in full without driving it and pick it up within 30 days and dealer
said NO. Dealer said it was against California law that they couldn't sell me
the car. I don't think it is against California law that they couldn't sell me the
car. I wouldn't buy a car from them at any price.

test drove at 9: 30 a.m. on the 15th was ready to buy and told they had recived an wire transfer and car was sold Ad was still up on auto trader and car Gurus days later, contacted them and it was sold ,Ad continues to stay up. This is a poor practice. bad experience

The car they listed ( which is 2014 Jetta Se) does not exist, it's just a bate to get you there. Sales person that I've been contacted by is inexperienced and rude ( because I went there riding my motorcycle first question he asked if I am trying to trade it in) although we've been communicating over emails for past four days ( he also have my number, and I called in before I went there) he told me that the Jetta is sold few minutes ago, which again the very same Jetta is still listed. I was so mad I didn't even consider looking at their inventory, which is why car dealers list bait cars right. I do not recommend anyone to deal with VW of Kearny Mesa, unprofessional and unfriendly dealership. It is so awkward that when I asked for the sales manager to assist me in this issue he backed his employee in his manners and told me the same LIE that his peer told me. Today, 3 days later that silver 2014 Jetta SE still listed on Car Gurus, I hope VW of Kearny Mesa have some kind of business ethic and there are some honest people left in their team to reconsider how they run their business. For anyone looking to buy from this dealership, BEFORE YOU HEAD THERE ASK THE SALES PERSON TO CONFIM SUCH VEHICLES AVAILABILTY IN THE BODY OF THE EMAIL OR TEXT INCLUDING MAKE , MODEL , MILAGE, COLOR AND PRICE. Be on the safe side don't waste your time.

We received excellent service during our recent trip to Volkswagen Kearny Mesa. The internet manager, Simeon, is very friendly, professional and kind. He followed up with us after our purchase. I would highly recommend this dealership, despite the construction that is going on. I'm sure the new facility will be very beautiful!!
