The 3.8 overall rating for Gage Auto doesn’t do them justice. I came to Gage in need of a car after the transmission in my 2016 Sentra failed at just 68k miles. I test-drove multiple cars, at other lots, but nothing felt quite right. Eventually, I decided on a 2015 GMC Terrain with only 28k miles.
I needed a car before Monday but also wanted to ensure I could get a pre-purchase inspection. Jason made sure the inspection was written into the contract, allowing me to drive off with the car that same day. Two days later, I took it to Chevy for the inspection, and aside from needing a new battery soon, everything checked out exceptionally well.
I’ve purchased many used cars before, and unfortunately, most experiences haven’t ended well. However, working with Jason was a completely different experience—he was professional and easy to work with. I would highly recommend Gage to anyone looking for a quality used car. Thank you, Jason!

My experience dealing with folks from Gage Auto was great! Jason was so down to earth, honest w/me, & helpful throughout the whole process as was Marc, a manager, too! It was a completely different feeling than the two others I had visited in the portland milwaukie area. Very clean place, cars, sales room, ect. Mark, my salesman was great!
I talked to Grant i gave him all my information for a loan he ran everything said i was approved but that they are closing for the night but will call me first thing in the morning but since we are in different time zones i waited for his call but nothing so i called him and he said it was sold i said why didn't you call me first thing in the morning he said he ment to but forgot very unprofessional and will waste your time

Made them an offer on vehicle. They returned call within 2 hours and refused the offer. Didn't try to play
games!
like the car, but the dealer -- specifically, sergio, the sales manager at gage -- has a lot to learn about customer
relations. do not, under any circumstances, let sergio persuade you not to have your vehicle inspected by an
outside mechanic. you've really got to wonder what they're hiding.

The salesman was very nice but we drove over an hour to see this vehicle and it was sold hours before we left to see it. The salesman didn’t actually check to make sure it was still on the lot. However he also didn’t try to push other vehicles on us so I would use this dealer again in the future.

Good overall experience
I had already told them I had a loan through my Credit Union whenTerrell told me that he needed me to fill out a credit application and put my social security number down Pressuring me for about 5 minutes and he told me he needs to know who he's selling the car too because I could be a terrorist. I wouldn't buy a car from them.

They contacted me and never followed up with me because I wasn’t a “local deal.” They said they were too busy with people in the dealership and did not follow up with me because of that.
The rep who test drove with me (Nate) was AWESOME! Car buying process was easy. BUT, the finance guy, Sergio, lied to me (with my 2 friends there) and said he couldn’t and wouldn’t sell me the car unless I allowed him to run my credit because the law said he had to, whether I was financing through him or not (which I wasn’t going to - had already secured it elsewhere.) I told him he had no right. But I ended up giving in and financing through them. I love my car but hate the way Sergio lied to me. I even found online articles warning consumers about car dealers saying THE EXACT SAME THING SERGIO TOLD ME that he “needed to make sure I wasn’t a terrorist” so he had to run my credit. I called him on it but then he just spewed a bunch of acronyms at me saying all those places required dealerships to do that. It’s my own fault for giving in. Do NOT let him or any other dealer lie to you about running your credit. They just want you to finance through their banks so they can get a kickback.

Fast and friendly service
Went in with high hopes on purchasing a vehicle sales guy was nice, but
did the normal lead on about pricing. When we made an offer, he
thanked us for not being crazy on the offer. A sales manager was there
and said the same thing. So far so good. That was it. The sales manager
came out with the usual sales piece of paper showing "This is how much
we have in this car." The price written on the car was less than what they
"had into it." This seems to be the most common sales tactic in Portland.
Every dealership is losing money on the listed price... Anyway, he refused
to budge on the price. Up to this point, no big deal. The sales guy had
vanished. The manager walked off and left me with the keys and
completely alone. This was strange. I had to hunt him down to keep from
leaving the keys laying out in the open. We left the dealership and was
never asked for any of our information. In the off chance that they would
lower their price a little if the car didn't sell, I emailed them on their
website. I never got a reply. I emailed through another listing site, not
mentioning who I was and immediately got a response. After they found
out it was me, no contact again. If that's how you treat your customers,
then this is how they respond...

They sold me a car but all the wheeling and dealing was so stupid! I think he was going in the back to talk when he would leave to see if they would take my offers. At one point I said I forgot to check under the hood and Jim, the guy I was working with, said you test drove it it has an engine. Really, just because I'm a women doesn't mean I don't know what to look at under the hood.

They were unpleasant, unwilling to negotiate, and the horrible reviews match their staff and not knowing who was going to be the dealer or who i was working with. I do not recommend this dealer to anyone that wants a smooth, no hassle, honest experience.

This was an awesome experience! My salesman Nick was great. I live 4 hours from the dealership. Nick took extra pictures of the vehicle and gave me a perfect description. The car was exactly as advertised. Highly recommend Nick and the dealership.

Can never get a good interest rate. I have bough 2 vehicle from this
dealership and each time they set me up with very high interest rate. I made all my payments on the first vehicle @29.9%. The second vehicle @28.9%. My credit was low, but they still got to me @28.9%. All they want do is sell cars no matter! They always
made me go to Reliable Credit Company. I think they have some of deal with them.

a definite bait and switch - listed the suburban with a tow package as
a major option...didn't even have a receiver hitch!! I drove 20 miles
there, but thankfully found an honest dealer down the street - Town
and Country Chevrolet - Thank You!! (Bought a 2005 Suburban there
for $15,500 )
