3.8 Overall rating
(109 reviews)Customers say
The Vauxhall Cavalier has earned a reputation as a reliable and comfortable car across its various model years. Owners often praise its performance and fuel economy, with a smooth driving experience being a common highlight. Many appreciate its affordability and the ease of maintenance, especially for DIY repairs. However, warnings about build quality issues and underwhelming engine performance are noted by some drivers, particularly with older models. Overall, the Cavalier is seen as a dependable choice for daily driving, but potential buyers should be aware of its limitations in terms of handling and engine power.

What people say
1989 Cavalier 2.0 CDI 4 door. These cars were luxurious, fast and inconspicuous. Whilst most people my age were struggling to insure XR2's and Uno Turbo's, the "old man model" Cavalier was cheap to insure but with the same 2.0 OHC engine as the sporty models and better gearing for fuel economy. This car could go from 20mph to 100mph in 3rd gear and embarrassed many a boy racer :-) I sold this car to my dad who then kept it for the next 100 years! My mate had a "J" reg which earned the nickname of DB7 as it used to put up a James Bond style smoke screen whenever overtaking people, but despite being given the hardest life possible, it wouldn't break!!!
My first "performance" car; well one with SRi in the name anyway!! The bombproof Cavalier 1800 SRi with OHC engine which took so much abuse it;s untrue! When I bought the car, it had a Peco rear silencer which sounded the nuts, but it didn't take long to rot! This was my first taste of performance, and while people raved about XR3i's this was faster and more comfortable than any Escort!!
i had this car for five years it was fully Loaded It was a very solid car the performance was good and very safe to be in the interior was a grey and charcoal with wood trimmings around the doors all in all it was a fun car to drive.
Fast as hell 0-60: sub 5, Good cornerer. no repair apart from arch, Sexy black leather interior heated front seats, 4x4 bodykit, 15-20mpg, goes troughs some amount of tires at 60euro a corner very fun car to drive
