4.6 Overall rating
Customers say
The Tesla Model S has garnered widespread acclaim for its exceptional performance and cutting-edge technology across all model years. Owners particularly appreciate its impressive speed, luxurious interior, and innovative features, making it a standout in the electric vehicle market. However, there are concerns about practicality, specifically regarding rear seat space and the design of the yoke steering wheel. Some drivers also note issues with build quality and the high price tag, which can deter potential buyers. Overall, the Model S is frequently regarded as a high-performing luxury vehicle that revolutionizes the electric driving experience.

Reviewed a 2019 Tesla Performance AWD with Ludicrous Mode on Feb 7, 2025
By far the best vehicle I have ever owned, but what makes it special is that it gets better overtime with (free) software updates that improve or add new features. Tons of room, and fits all 3 car seats across the back row. I mostly let it drive me around but it's a great feeling to know that when I'm in the mood to get sucked into my seat, I just have to floor it and hold on. I've never let up without a huge grin on my face. My monthly gas budget was $250, and my utility bill increased by around $50, so it saves me $200 a month.

This was a great value. I had never driven a Tesla before and this experience was beyond rewarding. So easy to learn and such a comfortable, low maintenance yet sexy and sophisticated ride. Loved the extra space for shopping, and extreme comfort for passengers. Would rent over and over again above any other cars. Price was just as equally efficient compared to lower brands. I highly recommend.

Why it stands out
The 2017 Tesla Model S stands out as a luxury electric sedan that helped define what a modern EV could be. It was revolutionary for offering more than 200 miles of EV range, a minimalist interior, and an exterior shape guided more by aerodynamics than fashion. It also arrived with a huge 17-inch infotainment screen, generous interior space, and rear-wheel drive, giving it a distinctly futuristic feel that still resonates with buyers looking for something different from a conventional luxury sedan.
What makes the 2017 Model S especially appealing is how much technology and performance it packed in. By this point, Tesla had already added features such as Autopilot hardware, and the Model S lineup had evolved through a series of battery and software changes that kept it competitive. The car’s strengths are clear: impressive range, advanced technology, and sports car-style acceleration. It also benefits from Tesla’s over-the-air updates, which help keep the software current as long as the hardware supports it.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Model S is not known for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and build quality has been a recurring concern. Even so, the 2017 Model S remains distinctive because it combines long-range electric driving, strong performance, and a cabin layout that felt ahead of its time.
