What should I look for when buying a used Subaru BRZ?

Across all model years, at 73.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: EyeSight driver-assist tech on automatic-transmission models, with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, steering responsive headlights, and reverse automatic braking on Limited models.
• Infotainment: a standard 8-inch touchscreen and digital gauge cluster with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, and SiriusXM satellite radio.
• Fuel efficiency: 25 mpg combined (21 mpg city, 30 mpg highway) with the automatic transmission and 22 mpg combined (20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway) with the manual transmission.

Which Subaru BRZ trim should I buy?

The 2022 Subaru BRZ offers these trims:

• Premium: This is the entry trim, and it gives you the BRZ’s core rear-wheel-drive sports-car formula with a manual transmission or an automatic, plus the standard 8-inch touchscreen, digital gauge cluster, and leather upholstery. It’s the best-value trim if you want the BRZ experience with the lowest starting point.
• Limited: This trim adds 18-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, Ultrasuede upholstery with red accent stitching, dual-mode heaters, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, steering responsive headlights, and reverse automatic braking on automatic models. It suits you if you want the most complete mix of comfort, grip, and driver-assist features.

What Subaru BRZ do most buyers choose?

The Subaru BRZ years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2025.

Higher-volume years tend to be the easiest to shop because you usually get more choices on price, mileage, and condition. They also tend to be the years most buyers cross-shop first when looking for a used BRZ.

What is the Subaru BRZ's resale value?

Most of the model years in this set are moving lower year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used. The changes are especially small for the newer recent years, while one year shows a slight increase.

The 2022 and 2023 model years are holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2022, 2023, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Subaru BRZ safe?

• 2022: 7/10
• 2015: 7/10

The BRZ gets Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist tech for the first time, albeit only on automatic-transmission models.

For the safest used buy, the 2015 and 2022 models both post the highest confirmed score of 7/10.

• Tech: A standard 8-inch touchscreen and digital gauge cluster replace the previous 7-inch touchscreen and analog gauges, and Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, and SiriusXM satellite radio are standard as well.
• Safety: The BRZ gets Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist tech for the first time, albeit only on automatic-transmission models, and the BRZ Limited adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, steering responsive headlights, and reverse automatic braking on automatic-transmission Limited models.
• Starting price: Pricing for the 2022 Subaru BRZ starts at $28,955 for the base Premium trim level with the manual transmission.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
