Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: The 2026 Frontier Pro-4X includes standard 4WD, all-terrain tires, Bilstein off-road shocks, an electronic locking rear differential, front and underbody skid plates, and a Terrain mode selector.
• Infotainment: The 2026 Frontier has a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and NissanConnect connected services including access to a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: Running with RWD, the Frontier Pro-4X averaged 18.3 mpg on our Southern California test loop, beating the EPA estimate of 18 mpg combined (although that rating likely incorporates 4WD running). It also proved more fuel efficient than the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, which we recently tested on the same route (although we tested those trucks in Automatic 4WD guises). The Pro-4X is slightly less efficient than other Frontier models, which are rated at 19 mpg combined with 4WD and 21 mpg combined with RWD.

Which Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2026 Nissan Frontier offers these trims:

• S: The entry trim gives you the Frontier’s basic truck setup, and it’s the only version offered in both King Cab and crew-cab body styles.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds useful comfort and convenience upgrades, including the available All-Weather Package with dual-zone automatic climate control, remote-engine start, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
• Pro-X: This trim brings a more rugged look and feel while keeping the Frontier’s traditional controls and truck character.
• Pro-4X: This is the off-road-focused trim, and it adds standard 4WD, all-terrain tires, Bilstein off-road shocks, an electronic locking rear differential, front and underbody skid plates, and a Terrain mode selector.

What Nissan Frontier do most buyers choose?

The Nissan Frontier years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2025.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, more pricing competition, and a better chance of finding the trim and equipment mix you want. They also sit close to the sweet spot between newer features and used-car pricing.

What is the Nissan Frontier's resale value?

Most Frontier model years are moving lower year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want to avoid paying peak prices. A few years are nearly flat, and one year shows a slight increase, but the overall pattern still favors buyers. The newer models are also seeing relatively small declines compared with some older years, which suggests steady demand.

The 2016 and 2017 model years are holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2016, 2017, and 2025 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
