What is the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 | $12,343 | −13.33% |
| 2024 | $18,209 | −10.63% |
| 2021 | $13,626 | −10.1% |
| 2022 | $15,838 | −9.73% |
| 2018 | $10,598 | −9.08% |
| 2019 | $11,087 | −8.36% |
| 2023 | $17,343 | −8.2% |
| 2017 | $9,728 | −3.69% |
| 2016 | $9,634 | −1.37% |
| 2015 | $8,681 | +1.36% |
Most model years are down year over year, and several recent ones show double-digit declines. That pattern can work in your favor if you're shopping used, since it creates more room to find value in newer examples. A few older years are changing only slightly, which suggests steadier pricing at the lower end of the range.
The 2015, 2016, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Should I buy a used Mitsubishi Outlander Sport now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2024 model is at −10.63% versus a year ago, and the 2023 model is at −8.2%.
- Deal availability: The 2024 model has 40.6% good and great deals, and the 2023 model has 40.4%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings.
If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the newest version, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Customers say
The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport has garnered generally positive feedback from owners across all model years, particularly for its comfortable ride and impressive fuel economy, with many averaging around 25-26 mpg. Drivers appreciate the spacious interior and reliability, making it a practical choice for families. However, some have pointed out that it can feel a bit basic compared to newer offerings, with notable criticisms including cabin noise and the absence of certain features that are now standard in competing models. Overall, it stands out for its value and practicality, appealing to those seeking a compact SUV.

Why it stands out
The 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport stands out as one of the longest-running models in the subcompact crossover class, and that long life has shaped its appeal. It remains one of the most affordable options in the segment, and its formula is straightforward: a sedan-like ride, hatchback utility, a higher ride height, and standard all-wheel drive. That combination makes it easy to live with and a practical choice for buyers who want an inexpensive AWD crossover without a lot of complexity.
Its strengths are also tied to its durability and simplicity. The model’s unusually long production run means most of the bugs have been worked out, and later examples benefit from good reliability. For 2025, the Outlander Sport is essentially a carryover, so buyers are getting a familiar package rather than a heavily revised one. The tradeoff is that it has never been especially cutting-edge, and its weak engine, rough ride, cheap interior materials, and plasticky cabin are still part of the story.
Even so, the 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport can make sense for shoppers who value affordability and standard AWD over flash. It is easy to park and drive, and its long-running design has helped keep ownership concerns relatively low. Buyers who want modern tech should pay close attention to trim details, since Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not universal across the lineup.
