I bought the car brand new with only 12KM's on it and have over 800 now. I bought the 5 speed as i did not want the CVT. The car has adequate power and the handling is outstanding. Styling is better than any other car in the price range and is very comfortable even for me (6'5). The warranty is better than what other car manufacturers offer as well. Overall i am very satisfied with the Lancer and will continue to drive it.

This is a second review of my car. I have owned the car since 7/5/08 and have put in some time really getting to know my car. In the first 2 years, for the most part I have only driven the car every weekday from my home to class which is 56.2 miles round trip and some days make the trip twice. Even though I have been putting my vehicle through all of this work, it has held up quite nicely and still feels like the first day I got it. As I've started to make some longer trips(NJ to Massachusetts or NJ to DC), I've felt some problems with some things about the car which I will mention later on in the review. Overall the car is a great car. It's acceleration depends really on the driver and how they shift. When I do get a little aggressive, the car doesn't really get a good amount of power till past 3000 rpm in every gear but I'm still able to get good speed if I shift well. Braking is very good and the brake pads are still holding up for me quite well. The car handles quite nicely. Around tight turns I feel like I have the control of a much smaller/shorter vehicle sometimes and even when turning at higher speeds the car seems to handle fine. The car's build is overall good. There are rattles from the doors either because of the windows or from the plastic covers over the speakers. The window rattles don't do any damage to the vehicle or window itself but once it did come off of the tracks. Warranty covered this for me. After almost 2 and half years, I still love the look of the car. The aggressive shark style front of the car looks nice even for the ES compared to the GTS, Ralliart, or Evo. And it still has a professional look to the car even though it still has an aggressive look to the entire car. The interior looks nice overall. Everything is neatly arranged and has a clean look. My only complaints are that the arm rest is slightly too short and the seats get somewhat uncomfortable like the lack of lumbar support and the edge of the seat starts to dig into the back of your legs after sitting for an extended period. Gas mileage is ok. Again it really depends on the driver. If you drive aggressively, most likely you will see average MPG under 22/30. On my more conservative drives, I have been able to get 26/41. I've never had to replace any parts yet. Driving the car is a good experience. It reacts well to roads, handles nicely, fun for spirited driving and rewarding for conservative driving, and only money I've HAD to put into the car is just for oil changes. The rattles get slightly annoying but doesn't affect my experience a lot.

A great vehicle, fun to ride has a smooth rally brake and suspension. Not as good as the RalliArt or Evo but still nice. Leather, sunroof and Rockford Fosgate speakers with 10 inch sub in trunk make the car worth while. Has a 170HP which travels along nicely and is great for the Northwestern Ontario hills. The acceleration of the car is great when you step on the pedal it goes, as for the appearance its very simple on the interior controls positioned nicely and the dash is easy to navigate for the driver. Outside the aggressive front gives it a sportier look than previous Lancer's. On the Cost of ownership you can't go wrong the gas milage is pretty good being a 28 city and 38 highway, the car is a fun car to drive and handles well in the corners and traverses snow well with a good set of 16 inch Toyo Winter Tires. Maintenance is limited to oil changes and minor tune ups the warranty is great 10 yr/160,000km powertrain, 5 yr/unlimited road side assistance, 5 yr/100,000 interior/exterior coverage. Its a well built car, there are some minor issues with the glove box though, it doesn't sound sturdy enough as it does rattle slightly, but i'm not sure if its due to the contense inside.

Just bought the car in June and loving it. Performance: with an out put of the 2.0, 4 cylinder naturally aspired engine, it gives an out put of 162 HP. Many drivers complain that the car doesn't have enough power. I disagree! With the 162 HP engine, it feels like have the power to over take many cars with it. It's all comes down to driving technique and using the standard transmission. However, the car sometimes does feel a bit over weight with 3000 lbs. It can stand to use a little diet. In terms of braking and handling, the Lancer is designed for rally. It can do some of the things most cars can never do. It's an extremely agile car and super fun to drive. Interior: from the inside, the Lancer is one of the ugliest cars ever made. The interior is all gray and black and lacking colour. The gage lights are red. The inside feels cold and almost too robotic. The bucket seats have no back support adjustment. However, the car does come with bluetooth connection to phone, Rockford Fosgate sound system with a 10 inch Sub built-in into the trunk, and radio control on the steering wheel. Exterior: Mitsubishi has a long history of worst styling in their cars. All of their previous generations of Lancers horribly ugly. For years, Mitsubishi had committed the worst crime in body styling. However, the new Lancer won the hearts of many young sport car enthusiasts with it's aggressive new look. It's by far the most beautiful car on the outside. Gas milage: The 2.0 naturally aspired aluminum block engine gives an average of 7.8L-8.6L/100KM. A full tank can give you close to 700KM. Safety: the Mitsubishi Lancer is considered the safest car in its class. The RISE system, which is first introduced in 96, gives the Lancer the most rigid body in its class. It has 8 air bags. The driver and the front passenger even have their own knee air bag. Other worth mentions: the new Lancer is absolutely one of the best car that ever come out of Japan. It's no surprised we see Lancer everywhere on the road and on the street. Lancer is looking to redeem it's history of despicable reputation. They've done a great job with the Lancer. For a compact car, it was very practical. It has a huge trunk. It was fun to drive. It was considered inexpensive. It's the safest in its class. It was rally inspired and great on gas. The only draw back is it's CVT transmission. It's an absolute mess. Safe the 1000 dollar and stick with the stick shift.
