Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Driver Assistance Package
• Infotainment: MBUX infotainment system with two 7.0-inch display screens in one housing
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo-four engine gets an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway, and 28 mpg combined. The 4MATIC version does one mpg worse in each category; lower fuel economy is typical for an all-wheel-drive vehicle.

Which Mercedes-Benz GLA trim should I buy?

The 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLA offers these trims:

• GLA 250: The core trim in the lineup, powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 221 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. It suits you if you want the main GLA experience with multiple powertrain choices and strong technology.
• GLA 250 4MATIC: Adds all-wheel drive, with the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. It suits you if you want the added traction of 4MATIC.
• AMG GLA 35: The performance step-up, with an AMG-enhanced turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, 302 hp, 295 lb-ft of torque, AMG-specific sport suspension, high-performance brakes, an AMG-specific exhaust system, and multiple drive modes. This is the best-value trim if you want the strongest blend of performance and equipment.
• AMG GLA 45: The top performance model, with 382 hp, 354 lb-ft of torque, AWD, a reinforced body shell, sophisticated engine cooling, upgraded brakes, and additional dynamics modes. It suits you if you want the most powerful GLA.

What Mercedes-Benz GLA do most buyers choose?

The Mercedes-Benz GLA years with the most listings are 2025, 2026, and 2024.

Higher-volume years tend to draw more shoppers because they offer more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right color, mileage, and equipment mix. They also often become popular used picks because the broader supply gives you more chances to find a strong deal.

Should I buy a used Mercedes-Benz GLA now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −14.34% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −12.83%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 37.1% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 42%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $35,449. The Mercedes-Benz GLA offers a premium cabin feel and a compact, easy-to-place footprint.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Mercedes sells the GLA in three variants, with another coming soon. There’s the traditional GLA 250 and GLA 250 4MATIC, and the AMG GLA 35. A high-performance version, the AMG GLA 45 is on the way. The turbo-four engine gets an EPA-estimated 25 mpg in the city, 34 mpg on the highway, and 28 mpg combined.
• Tech: The GLA comes standard with the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system, which includes two 7.0-inch display screens in one housing. Buyers can upgrade their model to include a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, 12-speaker Burmester audio system, wireless device charging, a WiFi hot spot, head-up display, and navigation.
• Safety: Mercedes gives every GLA a reasonable amount of active safety features. The list includes a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning, vehicle-exit warning, automatic emergency braking, driver-drowsiness monitoring, and crosswind assist.

If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
