Used Mercedes-Benz G-Class for Sale nearNew Haven, CT

How much does the Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost in today's market?

Used Mercedes-Benz G-Class prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class's current nationwide average price is $146,330, and its lowest point over the past year was $140,376. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — the Mercedes-Benz G-Class earns strong praise from owners for its rugged build, iconic styling, and the way it blends luxury with serious capability. The all-generations owner rating is 4.71/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently highlight the G-Class's distinctive design, powerful performance, and off-road character. Across the lineup, the model also stands out for its strong presence and the sense of occasion it brings to everyday driving.

Expert reviews rate the 2021 and 2025 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs that come up most often are high ownership costs, limited practicality, and a ride that stays truck-like even in its most luxurious forms. For shoppers who value character and capability over everyday utility, those compromises are part of the package.

34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Mercedes-Benz G-Class models reliable?

Owners consistently praise the G-Class for its rugged build, strong performance, and enduring appeal. Expert commentary also points to the model's durable character and its ability to combine luxury with serious off-road hardware.

• Owners rate the Mercedes-Benz G-Class between 4.0 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is tied more to high running costs and expensive upkeep than to the vehicle's core appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 83.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2020 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Fuel efficiency: The G-Class may have the weight and aerodynamic properties of a house, but Mercedes gives it enough power to be genuinely quick. The G 550 will scoot from zero to 60 mph in 5.3 seconds, while the G 63 will do the same in 4.2 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 130 mph for the G 550 and 137 mph for the G 63.

Which Mercedes-Benz G-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class offers these trims:

• G 550: The base model brings the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, mild-hybrid assistance, nine-speed automatic transmission, permanent 4WD with locking front, center, and rear differentials, plus standard 19-inch wheels. It suits you if you want the core G-Class experience with the model's signature capability and character.
• AMG G 63: This performance trim adds the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8, stronger acceleration, AMG Active Ride Control suspension, and standard 20-inch wheels. It is the right pick if you want the most powerful gasoline G-Class and the most dynamic on-road feel.
• G 580 with EQ Technology: This all-electric version expands the lineup with a fully electric powertrain and four individually controlled electric motors. It suits you if you want the newest powertrain in the range and a distinctly modern take on the G-Class formula.

What Mercedes-Benz G-Class do most buyers choose?

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class years with the most listings are 2024, 2022, and 2021.

Those higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare and a wider spread of pricing. They also sit in the sweet spot where newer features and broader availability overlap.

What is the Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

Most model years are moving lower year over year, which is good news if you're shopping used and want more room to negotiate. A couple of older years are close to flat or slightly higher, showing that some G-Class versions continue to command strong demand.

The 2017 and 2018 model years are holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2014, 2018, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Mercedes-Benz G-Class safe?

• 2025: 7/10
• 2021: 8/10
• 2020: 7/10
• 2019: 6/10

The 2025 G-Class adds route-based speed adaptation for adaptive cruise control, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature.

For the safest used buy, the 2021 model posts the highest confirmed score of 8/10.

Should I buy a used Mercedes-Benz G-Class now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −4.49% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −3.76%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 36.6% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 36.4%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $178,437. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class offers a distinctive boxy design and a strong sense of presence that make it feel special every time you drive it.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The base G 550 trades last year’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine for a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six rated at 443 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, while the AMG G 63 keeps its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which produces 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque.
• Tech: It features the same Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system as other vehicles wearing the three-pointed star, with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a pair of 12.3-inch screens.
• Safety: Three new features were also added for the 2025 model year, including route-based speed adaptation for adaptive cruise control, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature.
• Starting price: The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G 550 and AMG G 63 are scheduled to reach U.S. dealerships in the second half of 2024, with pricing information to be revealed closer to that time.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
