Used Mercedes-Benz G-Class for Sale near Glastonbury, CT

How much does the Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost in today's market?

Used Mercedes-Benz G-Class prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class's current nationwide average price is $147,287, and its nationwide average price reached a low of $140,277 over the past year. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — the Mercedes-Benz G-Class earns strong praise from owners across the lineup, and its appeal centers on its iconic design, luxury feel, and powerful performance. The all-generations owner rating is 4.7/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the G-Class for its rugged build quality, distinctive styling, and the way it blends luxury with real off-road capability. Across the model years, the recurring trade-offs are high ownership costs, limited practicality, and a ride that stays true to the truck-like character buyers expect.

Expert reviews rate the 2021 and 2025 models among the highest across all years.

The honest trade-off is that recent G-Class models still ask a lot from you in price, fuel use, and everyday practicality, even as they deliver standout presence and capability.

30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Mercedes-Benz G-Class models reliable?

Owners consistently praise the Mercedes-Benz G-Class for its strong build quality, distinctive character, and the way it combines luxury with rugged capability. Expert commentary also points to its durable, body-on-frame personality and long-running appeal as a serious off-road SUV.

• Owners rate the Mercedes-Benz G-Class between 4 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is tied more to high upkeep and expensive repairs than to the basic appeal of the vehicle itself.

What should I look for when buying a used Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 83.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2020 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: standard driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, park assist, a 360-degree camera system, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, safe exit assist, and traffic sign recognition.
• Infotainment: MBUX infotainment system with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a pair of 12.3-inch screens.
• Fuel efficiency: 443 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, with a 0-60 mph time of 5.3 seconds and an EPA-estimated 18 mpg combined.

Which Mercedes-Benz G-Class trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz G-Class offers these trims:

• G 550: the best-value trim, with a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six, 443 horsepower, 413 pound-feet of torque, and standard 19-inch wheels.
• AMG G 63: adds a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque, plus AMG Active Ride Control suspension and standard 20-inch wheels.
• G 580 with EQ Technology: the all-electric variant in the 2025 lineup.

What Mercedes-Benz G-Class do most buyers choose?

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class years with the most listings are 2024, 2022, and 2023.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare and a wider spread of prices and deal quality. That usually makes it easier to find a configuration that fits your budget and preferences.

What is the Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

Most model years are showing year-over-year price declines, which creates more room for used buyers to find value. A few older years are moving slightly upward, but the overall pattern still favors shoppers looking for recent-model bargains.

The 2014, 2018, and 2017 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Should I buy a used Mercedes-Benz G-Class now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −6.95% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −4.24%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 31.7% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 31.4%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $177,309. The Mercedes-Benz G-Class offers a distinctive, boxy design and a cabin that feels unmistakably upscale.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: the base G 550 trades last year’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine for a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six rated at 443 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, while the AMG G 63 keeps its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, which produces 577 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque.
• Tech: it features the same Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system as other vehicles wearing the three-pointed star, with standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a pair of 12.3-inch screens.
• Safety: three new features were also added for the 2025 model year, including route-based speed adaptation, automated lane centering, and an emergency-stop feature.
• Starting price: For reference, the 2024 G 550 and G 63 priced around $143,000 and $183,000, respectively.

If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
