Used Kia Sorento for Sale nearSweetwater, TX

How much does the Kia Sorento cost in today's market?

Used Kia Sorento prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Kia Sorento's current nationwide average price is $21,260, and its nationwide average price reached a low of $19,557 over the past year.

Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the Kia Sorento is a strong used SUV choice if you want a roomy, family-friendly model with broad appeal and a solid owner track record. The all-generations owner rating is 4.55/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the Sorento for its spacious interior, comfort, smooth ride, and family-friendly practicality. Across the model years, buyers also highlight its stylish design, good value, and useful mix of features.

Expert reviews rate the 2017 and 2016 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs show up in the newer expert-reviewed years: the interior materials can feel cheap, the third row can be cramped, and cargo space can feel limited.

35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Kia Sorento models reliable?

Owners and experts consistently point to the Sorento’s comfort, practicality, and everyday usability as recurring strengths. The model also earns praise for its smooth ride, family-friendly layout, and broad feature set across many years.

• Owners rate the Kia Sorento between 2.0 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is best managed by choosing a well-documented example with a clean history and a strong maintenance record.

What should I look for when buying a used Kia Sorento?

Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 78% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2021 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except for the LX, and SX and SX Prestige add lane-changing functionality to create Highway Driving Assist 2.
• Infotainment: every 2025 Sorento has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: Kia equips the Sorento LX and S with an underwhelming 191-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is adequate and will return up to 26 mpg in combined driving. The turbo four is a far more satisfying engine, and the official EPA gas mileage rating is 23 mpg in combined driving.

Which Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2025 Kia Sorento offers these trims:

• LX: the entry point with the 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder and eight-speed automatic transmission; best if you want the lowest-cost way into the Sorento lineup.
• S: keeps the 191-horsepower setup and sits above LX for shoppers who want a step up without moving into the turbo models.
• EX: adds access to the X-Line appearance package and moves into the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder.
• SX: adds the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder and can be paired with the X-Line appearance package.
• SX Prestige: adds the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder, comes standard with the X-Line appearance package, and is the best-value trim if you want a more upscale Sorento experience.
• X-Pro SX Prestige: adds exclusive front and rear bumper covers, enhanced utility roof rails, unique matte-black 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, and towing capacity of 4,500 pounds.

What Kia Sorento do most buyers choose?

The Kia Sorento years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2022.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they combine broad availability with strong deal percentages and newer features. That gives you more choices at a price point that still feels accessible for many used-SUV shoppers.

What is the Kia Sorento's resale value?

Most Sorento model years are showing year-over-year price declines, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want more value for your money. The biggest drops are concentrated in the newer and mid-cycle years, while a few older years are falling more gradually. Overall, the pattern points to a market that is giving buyers more room to negotiate.

The 2023, 2016, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Kia Sorento safe?

• 2025: 8/10
• 2024: 9/10
• 2022: 9/10
• 2021: 7/10

• 2015: 7/10
• 2014: 9/10

Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except for the LX, and SX and SX Prestige add lane-changing functionality to create a Highway Driving Assist 2 system.

For the safest used buy, the 2017 and 2019 models both post the highest confirmed score of 10/10.

Should I buy a used Kia Sorento now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −7.63% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −8.06%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 38.5% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 37.9%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2023 model has the most listings at a current average price of $26,851. The Kia Sorento offers a roomy three-row layout with a polished cabin and a broad mix of family-friendly features.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Kia equips the Sorento LX and S with an underwhelming 191-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the turbo four generates 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque.
• Tech: every 2025 Sorento has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the system also includes Digital Key technology and a 24-inch panoramic display.
• Safety: Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except for the LX, and SX and SX Prestige add lane-changing functionality to create Highway Driving Assist 2.
• Starting price: the base Sorento LX starts at less than $35,000.

If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
