Which Kia Sorento trim should I buy?
The 2025 Kia Sorento offers these trims:
- LX: The entry trim uses the 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder and eight-speed automatic, and it suits budget-focused shoppers who want the Sorento’s core size and utility.
- S: This trim keeps the base powertrain and adds a step up in equipment for buyers who want a little more comfort and convenience without moving up the ladder.
- EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it moves to the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder and can add the X-Line appearance package.
- SX: This trim adds the turbocharged engine and can be paired with the X-Line package, making it a strong choice if you want more power and a more upscale feel.
- SX Prestige: This trim adds the turbocharged engine, comes standard with X-Line, and brings a more premium presentation.

Reviewed a 2023 Kia Sorento on May 5, 2026
Let me start by saying the 2023 Kia Sorento is a nice vehicle. It drives well, looks great, and has solid features. That's not the issue. The issue is the front grill design. Kia left the radiator completely exposed behind the grill with no protective barrier. Over time, dust, debris, and rocks collect and pass right through, causing serious damage to the radiator. Based on my experience and the experiences of hundreds of other owners, you will likely need to replace your entire radiator within the first three years of ownership. I've filed formal complaints with the Federal Trade Commission, the Better Business Bureau, the Michigan Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Why? Because neither the dealership nor Kia America will cover this repair. It is not covered under warranty. You will be expected to pay out of pocket in my case, $1,350 for damage caused by their faulty design. The "solution" owners are left with? Going on Amazon and purchasing a metal mesh grill guard to install yourself, just to protect a part that should have been protected from the factory. A consumer should not have to modify a brand-new vehicle to prevent a critical component from being destroyed under normal driving conditions. If the grill had been designed properly in the first place, none of this would be necessary. Don't just take my word for it. Search Reddit, Google, the Kia Forums, and the NHTSA complaint database. You'll find hundreds of Sorento owners reporting the exact same problem rock damage to the radiator because of this open grill design. If you're a current owner dealing with this, I urge you to file complaints. Report it to NHTSA, the FTC, the BBB, and your state attorney general's consumer division. The more complaints on record, the harder it becomes for Kia to ignore this, and the closer we get to holding them accountable , whether that means reimbursement for owners or a full recall. Our voices matter, but only if we use them. To anyone considering this vehicle: I'd still say it's a good car just know what you're getting into with that front end, and budget for a radiator replacement Kia won't tell you about.

CarGurus recommends the 2022 Kia Sorento
Summary
With 3,327 currently listed for sale and an average price of $23,418, 37.7% of 2022 Kia Sorento listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Kia Sorento 4.64 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.67 / 10.
86.2% of 2022 Kia Sorento listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Kia Sorento stands out as a stylish midsize, three-row crossover SUV with a modern design and a fun-to-drive character. It also comes with a great warranty, which adds to its appeal for shoppers looking for long-term peace of mind. At the same time, it is not the best choice if a useful third-row seat is a priority, since that area is described as cramped.
For 2022, Kia made several notable updates to the Sorento. The appealing X-Line package became available with S and EX trim in addition to the SX Prestige. All 2022 Kia Sorento models except the base LX trim now have a standard 10.25-inch infotainment system with navigation and UVO connected services. The top-of-the-line SX Prestige also adds a more comfortable driver’s seat and heated second-row captain’s chairs as standard equipment.
The biggest changes involve the hybrid lineup. The Sorento Hybrid gains a new all-wheel-drive option, and the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid debuts with an electric-only range of 32 miles before switching to gas-electric hybrid propulsion and returning 34 mpg in combined driving. Those additions make the 2022 Kia Sorento especially appealing to buyers who want a family-oriented SUV with more efficiency choices, even if the base engine is underwhelming and the voice recognition system is poor.
