Used Kia Sorento for Sale nearFrankfort, KY

How much does the Kia Sorento cost in today's market?

Used Kia Sorento prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Kia Sorento's current nationwide average price is $21,160, and its nationwide average price reached a low of $19,540 over the past year. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the Kia Sorento is a strong used SUV choice if you want a family-friendly model with broad appeal and a solid owner reputation. The all-generations owner rating is 4.6/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the Sorento for its spacious interior, comfort, smooth ride, and family-friendly features. Across the model years, the Sorento also earns recurring praise for style, value, and a well-rounded driving experience.

Expert reviews rate the 2017 and 2016 models among the highest across all years.

The main tradeoffs show up in recent expert reviews: the base engine can feel underwhelming, the third row is cramped, and some trims keep the most advanced features higher in the lineup. Even so, the Sorento remains a compelling used buy if you want space, comfort, and a strong feature set.

32.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Kia Sorento models reliable?

Owners and experts consistently point to the Sorento’s comfort, practicality, and everyday usability as major strengths. Across the model years, it also earns praise for its smooth ride, family-friendly packaging, and overall value.

• Owners rate the Kia Sorento between 2 and 5 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is best managed by checking service history and choosing a well-maintained example, especially on older model years.

What should I look for when buying a used Kia Sorento?

Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 78.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2021 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except for the LX, and SX and SX Prestige add lane-changing functionality to create a Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) system.
• Infotainment: every 2025 Sorento has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: Kia equips the Sorento LX and S with an underwhelming 191-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is adequate and will return up to 26 mpg in combined driving. The turbo four is a far more satisfying engine, and the official EPA gas mileage rating is 23 mpg in combined driving.

Which Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2025 Kia Sorento offers these trims:

• LX: The entry trim uses the 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder and eight-speed automatic, and it suits budget-focused buyers.
• S: This trim keeps the same engine setup as LX while staying in the core lineup.
• EX: This trim adds the option for the X-Line appearance package.
• SX: This trim upgrades to the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder and can also take the X-Line appearance package.
• SX Prestige: This trim upgrades to the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder, comes standard with the X-Line appearance package, and adds a larger 12.3-inch digital instrument panel with the standard 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
• X-Pro SX Prestige: This top trim adds exclusive front and rear bumper covers, enhanced utility roof rails, unique matte-black 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, and towing capacity to 4,500 pounds.

What Kia Sorento do most buyers choose?

The Kia Sorento years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2022.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you a strong mix of availability, newer features, and a wide range of prices. More listings also make it easier to compare trims, mileage, and condition before you buy.

What is the Kia Sorento's resale value?

Most Sorento model years are down year over year, which can work in your favor if you’re shopping used. The largest drops are concentrated in the newer and mid-cycle years, while several older models show smaller declines. That pattern suggests you can find meaningful value across much of the lineup.

The 2023, 2016, and 2014 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Kia Sorento safe?

• 2025: 8/10
• 2024: 9/10
• 2022: 9/10
• 2021: 7/10
• 2019: 10/10
• 2017: 10/10
• 2016: 9/10
• 2015: 7/10
• 2014: 9/10

For the safest used buy, the 2017 and 2019 models both post the highest confirmed score of 10/10.

Should I buy a used Kia Sorento now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −7.21% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −8.08%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 34.1% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 33.8%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2023 model has the most listings at a current average price of $26,670. The Kia Sorento offers a roomy three-row layout, a polished cabin, and a broad spread of powertrain and trim choices.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The 2025 Sorento LX and S use a 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic transmission and up to 26 mpg combined, while the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque and returns 23 mpg combined.
• Tech: Every 2025 Sorento has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Digital Key technology and an excellent surround-view camera system.
• Safety: Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except for the LX, and SX and SX Prestige add lane-changing functionality to create Highway Driving Assist 2.
• Starting price: The base Sorento LX starts at less than $35,000.

If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
