Used Kia Sorento for Sale near Blue Ridge, VA

How much does the Kia Sorento cost in today's market?

Used Kia Sorento prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Kia Sorento's current nationwide average price is $21,198, and its lowest point over the past year was $19,548. Recently, prices have come down for the 2023, 2024, and 2025 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the Kia Sorento is a strong used SUV choice if you want a roomy, family-friendly model with broad appeal and a high owner rating. The all-generations owner rating is 4.55/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the Sorento for its spacious interior, comfortable ride, and family-friendly practicality. Across the model years, you also see recurring appreciation for its smooth driving manners, stylish design, and useful mix of features.

Expert reviews rate the 2017 and 2016 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs show up in the newer expert-tested years: interior materials can feel less upscale than you might expect, the third row is best for occasional use, and cargo space can feel tight. Even so, the Sorento’s blend of comfort, value, and versatility keeps it appealing for used buyers.

35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Are Kia Sorento models reliable?

Owners repeatedly praise the Sorento for comfort, practicality, and everyday usability, and expert coverage also highlights its strong family-friendly character and broad feature set. Across the model years, that combination points to a vehicle that many shoppers find easy to live with.

• Owners rate the Kia Sorento between 2.0 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.

For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is best managed by choosing a well-documented example with a clean history and a careful pre-purchase inspection.

What should I look for when buying a used Kia Sorento?

Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 78% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2021 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except for the LX.
• Infotainment: the Sorento’s standard 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Fuel efficiency: The 191-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission return up to 26 mpg in combined driving, while the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder is rated at 23 mpg in combined driving.

Which Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2025 Kia Sorento offers these trims:

• LX: The entry trim uses the 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder and eight-speed automatic transmission, making it the value-focused choice if you want the Sorento’s core size and utility at the lowest price.
• S: This trim keeps the same base engine and adds a more equipped step up for shoppers who want a little more content without moving into the turbocharged lineup.
• EX: This trim brings the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder and can be paired with the X-Line appearance package, making it a strong value pick for buyers who want more power and a more upscale feel.
• SX: This trim adds the turbocharged engine and can also be paired with the X-Line appearance package, giving you a more premium setup with more available style and equipment.
• SX Prestige: This trim adds the turbocharged engine, comes standard with the X-Line appearance package, and is the best-value choice if you want the Sorento’s richer cabin and more advanced features.
• X-Pro SX Prestige: This top trim adds exclusive front and rear bumper covers, enhanced utility roof rails, unique matte-black 17-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, and a towing capacity of 4,500 pounds for buyers who want the most rugged-looking Sorento.

What Kia Sorento do most buyers choose?

The Kia Sorento years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2022.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they offer a strong mix of availability, newer features, and pricing that still sits below the newest model years. More listings also give you more room to compare trims, colors, and equipment before you buy.

What is the Kia Sorento's resale value?

Most Sorento model years are down year over year, and several of the declines are double-digit drops. That pattern is helpful for used buyers because it creates more room to find value in recent and older model years alike. The smaller declines at the lower end of the table suggest some years are softening more gradually than others.

The 2016, 2023, and 2014 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Kia Sorento safe?

• 2025: 8/10
• 2024: 9/10
• 2022: 9/10
• 2021: 7/10
• 2019: 10/10
• 2017: 10/10
• 2016: 9/10
• 2015: 7/10
• 2014: 9/10

Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except for the LX.

For the safest used buy, the 2017 and 2019 models both post the highest confirmed score of 10/10.

Should I buy a used Kia Sorento now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −7.32% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −8.14%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 37.1% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 37.9%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2023 model has the most listings at a current average price of $26,708. The Kia Sorento offers a roomy three-row layout, a polished interior, and a versatile family-friendly character.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Kia equips the Sorento LX and S with an underwhelming 191-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder generates 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque.
• Tech: every 2025 Sorento has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Kia Connect adds 911 Connect, a find-my-car function, remote access to certain vehicle features, and safe driver settings.
• Safety: Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except for the LX, and SX and SX Prestige add lane-changing functionality to create a Highway Driving Assist 2 system.
• Starting price: the base Sorento LX starts at less than $35,000.

If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
