Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 81.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
| Model Year | Accident-Free % |
|---|---|
| 2026 | 93.9% |

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2021 models.
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Honda Sensing, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Road Departure Mitigation.
- Infotainment: a 9-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and wireless phone charging.
- Fuel efficiency: Most Ridgeline models return an EPA-rated 21 mpg combined (18 mpg city, 24 mpg highway), although TrailSport models are slightly less efficient.
Which Honda Ridgeline trim should I buy?
The 2025 Honda Ridgeline offers these trims:
- Sport: The entry trim starts with standard AWD, a V6 engine, a 9-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless phone charging, and Honda Sensing safety tech, making it the best-value choice for shoppers who want the core Ridgeline formula.
- RTL: Adds a more upscale feel and sits above Sport for buyers who want more comfort and convenience without moving to the off-road-focused model.
- TrailSport: Adds all-terrain tires, unique suspension tuning, and a front skid plate, making it the pick for buyers who want the most rugged setup in the lineup.
- Black Edition: The range-topping trim adds the most premium presentation, including an eight-speaker audio system and rear USB-C ports.
What Honda Ridgeline do most buyers choose?
The Honda Ridgeline years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2022.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 2,620 | 33.4% |
| 2023 | 2,320 | 33.4% |
| 2022 | 1,970 | 33.8% |
| 2025 | 1,618 | 33.1% |
| 2026 | 1,066 | 33% |
| 2018 | 1,020 | 31.2% |
These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they offer a strong mix of availability, recent features, and pricing that still sits below new-vehicle levels. More listings also give you more room to compare condition, mileage, and deal quality.
What is the Honda Ridgeline's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2018 | $20,443 | −9.01% |
| 2022 | $29,221 | −7.77% |
| 2025 | $36,011 | −7.62% |
| 2017 | $18,621 | −6.58% |
| 2020 | $25,538 | −5.4% |
| 2021 | $27,161 | −5.09% |
| 2023 | $31,249 | −4.95% |
| 2019 | $22,641 | −4.7% |
| 2024 | $34,361 | −4.21% |
| 2014 | $15,430 | +3.95% |
Most Ridgeline model years are down year over year, which is good news if you want to buy used after prices have softened. The declines are generally meaningful, with several recent years showing solid drops from where they were a year ago. One older model year moved up instead, showing that not every version follows the same pattern.
The 2014, 2024, and 2019 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

For the safest used buy, the 2017, 2020, 2022 and 2025 models all post the highest confirmed score of 8/10.
Should I buy a used Honda Ridgeline now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −7.62% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −4.21%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 33.1% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 33.4%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $34,361. The Honda Ridgeline offers a comfortable ride, clever storage, and an easy-to-live-with cabin that make it especially appealing for everyday use.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: A 3.5-liter V6 generating 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque sits under the hood, and it’s coupled to a nine-speed automatic transmission with standard AWD.
- Tech: All Ridgeline models come standard with a 9-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, plus wireless phone charging.
- Safety: Standard safety features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Road Departure Mitigation.
- Starting price: Pricing starts at $41,600 for the base Sport model, including the mandatory destination charge.
If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Customers say
The Honda Ridgeline has consistently impressed owners across the years with its comfort, smooth ride, and practical features. Many drivers appreciate its spacious interior and versatile cargo options, including the unique trunk housed in the bed, which sets it apart from traditional trucks. However, some owners have raised concerns about outdated technology, lower towing capacities, and pricing compared to competitors. Overall, the Ridgeline stands out for its reliability and ease of use, making it a favorable choice for those seeking a comfortable ride rather than a heavy-duty work truck.

This was a great buy. I had a pre-purchase inspection done by my mechanic and he said, "I don't often say this, but I could not find one thing wrong with this vehicle. it's a great truck!" It has all the features I was looking for and at the right price.

Why it stands out
The 2024 Honda Ridgeline stands out by blending midsize-truck usefulness with the easygoing character of a daily driver. Honda gives it several updates this year, including a new TrailSport trim with an off-road suspension, all-terrain tires, underbody protection, and an available exclusive Diffused Sky Blue paint color. The truck also gets tech updates and a new center console, while the dual-action tailgate now spells out RIDGELINE in big letters, giving it a more traditional pickup look.
That mix of changes makes the 2024 Ridgeline more appealing without changing its basic formula as a unibody crew-cab, short-bed truck. It remains comfortable, easy to use, and endlessly practical, which helps explain why it can feel like a strong fit for buyers who want truck utility without a harsh ride. At the same time, its towing capacity is limited to 5,000 pounds, and its off-road ability is still not aimed at technical terrain, so it is best suited to shoppers who value versatility and everyday livability over maximum capability.
