How much does the Honda CR-V cost in today's market?

Used Honda CR-V prices span a wide range depending on model year. Here's what the market looks like right now:

The Honda CR-V's current nationwide average price is $21,981, and its lowest point over the past year was $19,867. Recently, prices have come down for the 2024, 2025, and 2026 models, making now a good time to shop recent model years.

Is the Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the Honda CR-V is a strong used SUV choice if you want a roomy, efficient, and easy-to-live-with crossover. The all-generations owner rating is 4.57/5 across every model year in the data.

Owners consistently praise the CR-V for its spacious interior, excellent fuel economy, and reliability. Comfort and everyday usability also come up again and again, along with strong safety features and useful technology.

Expert reviews rate the 2017 and 2015 models among the highest across all years.

The main trade-offs in recent expert-tested years center on the transmission’s busy feel under hard acceleration, conservative styling, and a tech package that improves with trim level. Even so, the CR-V’s overall mix of comfort, utility, and efficiency keeps it appealing for most shoppers.

33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

What should I look for when buying a used Honda CR-V?

Across all model years, at 72.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Honda Sensing
• Infotainment: a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says our test vehicle should get 29 mpg in combined driving, and we averaged 29.1 mpg on a mountainous Southern California evaluation route.

Which Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda CR-V offers these trims:

• EX: This is the entry point to the lineup, and it gives you the 7-inch digital instrumentation panel, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cloth upholstery, and the core Honda Sensing safety suite. It’s the best-value trim if you want the essentials without moving up the price ladder.
• EX-L: This trim adds the larger 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, SiriusXM satellite radio, an upgraded eight-speaker sound system, leather-wrapped interior touchpoints, a power-adjustable front passenger’s seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power rear liftgate, and front and rear parking sensors. It’s the sweet spot if you want the most complete everyday package.

What Honda CR-V do most buyers choose?

The Honda CR-V years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2023.

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they combine broad availability with newer features and familiar CR-V strengths. They also give you more choices at different price points, which makes it easier to find the right mix of equipment and value.

What is the Honda CR-V's resale value?

Most model years are down year over year, which is helpful if you’re shopping used and want to benefit from softer pricing. A few older years are moving up, showing that some well-kept examples still command stronger demand. Overall, the pattern favors buyers looking for recent-model value.

The 2026 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.

The 2014, 2015, and 2026 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Honda CR-V safe?

• 2023: 9/10
• 2021: 10/10
• 2020: 8/10
• 2019: 8/10
• 2017: 10/10

Should I buy a used Honda CR-V now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2026 model is at −0.79% versus a year ago, and the 2025 model is at −4.19%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 33% good and great deals.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $31,624. The Honda CR-V offers a roomy cabin and cargo area that make it especially easy to live with for commuting, errands, and family use.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The 2023 CR-V EX and EX-L get the same turbocharged 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which generates 190 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 179 pound-feet of torque between 1,700 rpm and 5,000 rpm.
• Tech: Choose the CR-V EX-L, and Honda adds a larger 9-inch touchscreen display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, SiriusXM satellite radio, and an upgraded eight-speaker sound system.
• Safety: Honda bundles the tech under the Honda Sensing umbrella, and it includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a seatbelt reminder system, rear-seat reminder system, driver monitoring system, traffic sign recognition system, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Starting price: At the beginning of the model year, prices start at $31,110 for a CR-V EX with front-wheel drive (FWD) and rise to $35,260 for a CR-V EX-L with all-wheel drive (AWD).

If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
