Which Ford Bronco Sport trim should I buy?
The 2025 Ford Bronco Sport offers these trims:
- Big Bend: The base model starts the lineup and is the least expensive way into the Bronco Sport, with standard all-wheel drive and the model’s core rugged character.
- Heritage: This design-focused trim adds a distinctive retro-inspired look for shoppers who want style to be a bigger part of the appeal.
- Free Wheeling: This trim adds a more expressive appearance package for buyers who want the Bronco Sport’s adventurous personality with extra visual flair.
- Outer Banks: This trim adds a more upscale feel and is also one of the trims that can be paired with the Sasquatch Package.
- Badlands: This is the best-value trim for buyers who want the strongest off-road hardware, including the 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, and it can also be paired with the Sasquatch Package.
What Ford Bronco Sport do most buyers choose?
The Ford Bronco Sport years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2022.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 7,142 | 37.1% |
| 2023 | 6,155 | 35.7% |
| 2022 | 5,638 | 35.8% |
| 2025 | 5,357 | 37.8% |
| 2021 | 3,248 | 36.5% |
| 2026 | 3,122 | 38.7% |
These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right trim, color, and price. They also often sit in the sweet spot between newer features and more accessible pricing.
What is the Ford Bronco Sport's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | $28,539 | −13.14% |
| 2022 | $22,094 | −11.54% |
| 2021 | $20,107 | −10.5% |
| 2024 | $26,730 | −7.36% |
| 2023 | $25,327 | −6.78% |
Prices are moving lower across every year shown, which is good news if you’re shopping used. The biggest drops are in the newer model years, while the older years are also down by double digits in some cases. That creates a broad buying window if you want to target a recent Bronco Sport at a lower price than it carried a year ago.
The 2023, 2024, and 2021 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.
Is the Ford Bronco Sport safe?

- 2021: 6/10
Ford’s Co-Pilot360 safety suite is standard on the 2025 model.
For the safest used buy, the 2025 model posts the highest confirmed score of 7/10.
Should I buy a used Ford Bronco Sport now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −13.14% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −7.36%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 37.8% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 37.1%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $26,730. The Ford Bronco Sport offers a rugged, adventure-ready character with standard all-wheel drive and a strong everyday-versus-weekend balance.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: Most trim levels come with a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine generating 180 horsepower and 200 pound-feet of torque, while Ford Bronco Sport Badlands models have a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 250 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque.
- Tech: The upgrade brings a larger 13.2-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
- Safety: Standard driver-assist features as part of Ford’s Co-Pilot360 safety kit suite include: forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control (with stop-and-go and lane centering), and automatic high beams.
- Starting price: Pricing starts at $31,590 for the Bronco Sport Big Bend base model.
If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Customers say
The Ford Bronco Sport has generally won over owners across all model years, with many praising its smooth ride, spacious interiors, and stylish design. The vehicle offers a good balance of comfort, fuel economy, and off-road capability, making it appealing for adventurous drivers. However, some owners have noted issues such as a lack of interior quality, limited color options, and high pricing, particularly when compared to rivals. The overall luxury feel at a reasonable price remains a positive highlight for many.

The ford app is awesome, such an upgrade from my old car with the ability to start from the app. The only thing in this model I would say is heated seats but that is just cosmetic things.

Exceeded my expectations - the car in with this trim with this engine are impressive enough. But with the added options, it’s amazing. Looks good on the road and driving experience is good.

I absolutely love, love, love my new to me car! I’m a simple kind of girl (so I’ve been told), so the heated seats, CarPlay, and reverse camera were really the only features I wanted! But, I love the “Cyber Orange” or as the my 12 year old puts it “Potassium”! 🤣

Reviewed a 2024 Ford Outer Banks AWD on Aug 16, 2025
It was hard to find one with a sunroof (a MUST for me) and I feel like the navy interior is not the best match for the Cactus Grey exterior color. But the vehicle is fun and it's growing on me. Doesn't have the comfort (by way of multi-point seat adjustments) that my last car did so comfort gets a b. Also the dial takes some getting used to. Having the "modes" dial so close to the "shift" dial has caused me to shift into the wrong gear a couple of times while driving. The engine seems to comprehend this and di not shift from Drive to Neutral despite me turning it to that at 55 mph. My only other complaint is, since I wanted the luxury features of the Outer Banks, why not offer a power lift gate for the back? Makes no sense. But luckily it is a lightweight gate so not really a problem. Just will miss that convenience when I'm walking to my car with a bag of groceries. It's a fun little truck and super cute. Watch out; you'll start wanting to personalize it. :)

Why it stands out
The 2022 Ford Bronco Sport stands out as a smaller, more affordable take on the Bronco formula, with a boxy shape and a more rugged, adventure-ready personality than many subcompact SUVs. It shares its unibody construction with the Ford Escape, but it is positioned to feel more capable and more distinctive, and its standard all-wheel drive helps reinforce that mission. Buyers looking for something that can handle weekday commuting and weekend trail duty will find that balance appealing.
What makes the 2022 model especially interesting is how much utility Ford built into it. Standard equipment includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Sync 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Ford Co-Pilot360 safety features, and G.O.A.T. modes, while the available and trim-specific features add practical touches like a rubberized cargo floor, molle straps, a cargo management system, and a 180-degree camera. It also offers a pair of EcoBoost engines, with the 1.5-liter version rated at 180 horsepower and the available 2.0-liter version rated at 250 horsepower, plus up to 2,200 lbs of towing with the optional tow package or 2,700 lbs when properly equipped with the stronger engine.
Its biggest strengths are its style, handling, and off-road credibility, especially in the more capable trims that add features like all-terrain tires, skid plates, tow hooks, and extra ground clearance. The tradeoffs are worth noting, though: the interior materials can feel cheap, touchscreen controls can be excessive, and reliability has been a concern. Even so, the 2022 Ford Bronco Sport remains appealing because it blends everyday usability with genuine outdoor character in a way that few small SUVs do.
