By this generation, Chevrolet had already given the Suburban an independent rear suspension, which improved ride and handling while also lowering the rear floor to increase cargo space and third-row legroom. For 2023, the Suburban also offered a broad mix of powertrain and technology choices. The Duramax 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder diesel made 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, while returning up to 23 mpg in combined driving, and the standard 5.3-liter V8 made 355 horsepower. When properly equipped, the Suburban could tow 8,300 pounds.
