The 2023 Chevrolet Suburban stands out for doing exactly what the name has long promised: carrying a lot of people, a lot of cargo, and a lot of weight. In this generation, Chevrolet’s move to an independent rear suspension improved ride and handling while also lowering the rear floor, which helped cargo space reach a maximum of 144.7 cubic feet and gave the third row more legroom. A longer wheelbase also made it easier to get into and out of the third row, reinforcing the Suburban’s appeal as a genuinely usable three-row SUV rather than just a big one.
The 2023 model also benefits from the 12th generation’s broad mix of powertrains and technology. The Duramax 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder diesel was available with 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque, while the standard 5.3-liter V8 made 355 horsepower. Chevrolet also offered wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, along with access to a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot.
