What should I look for when buying a used Cadillac Escalade ESV?

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Super Cruise
• Infotainment: a curved 38-inch OLED screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, wireless charging, NFC phone pairing, and seven USB ports
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA hasn't rated the Escalade ESV for fuel economy but has done the traditional Escalade, which gets an EPA-estimated low of 17 mpg combined and a high of 23 mpg combined. RWD versions are more efficient. During a week of testing that epitomized combined driving situations including some idle time, the RWD Escalade ESV tester was averaging around 18 mpg—far better than what was anticipated.

Which Cadillac Escalade ESV trim should I buy?

The 2021 Cadillac Escalade ESV offers these trims:

• Luxury: This entry trim brings the long-wheelbase body, 22-inch wheels, roof rails, power-extending assist steps, LED lighting, and the standard 19-speaker AKG sound system, making it a strong starting point if you want the core Escalade ESV experience.
• Premium Luxury: This trim adds more chrome styling and a more upscale appearance, and it suits you if you want a richer look without moving all the way to the top of the range.
• Sport: This trim adds blacked-out exterior accents, darker wheels, and a more aggressive appearance.
• Premium Luxury Platinum: This trim adds the most upscale presentation in the lineup, and it is the best-value choice if you want the richest mix of luxury and equipment.
• Sport Platinum: This trim adds the blacked-out Sport look with the most premium treatment in the Sport family.

What Cadillac Escalade ESV do most buyers choose?

The Cadillac Escalade ESV years with the most listings are 2023, 2022, and 2024.

These higher-volume model years tend to be the most popular used picks because they offer the broadest mix of availability, pricing, and deal opportunities. They also give you more room to compare listings and find the equipment level that fits your budget.

What is the Cadillac Escalade ESV's resale value?

Most model years in the table are posting double-digit price declines, which creates more room for used buyers to find value. The pattern is broadly downward across the lineup, and that makes recent used Escalade ESVs especially worth a look if you want a luxury SUV at a lower entry point than new.

The 2017, 2019, and 2022 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Cadillac Escalade ESV safe?

• 2021: 7/10

Every Escalade ESV comes standard with front automatic braking, front and rear park assist, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian detection, rear pedestrian detection, safety seat alert, lane-keep assist, and forward-collision assist.

For the safest used buy, the 2021 model posts the highest confirmed score of 7/10.

Should I buy a used Cadillac Escalade ESV now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −11.02% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −12.59%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 40.3% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 40.3%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2023 model has the most listings at a current average price of $65,834. The Cadillac Escalade ESV offers a massive cabin and a distinctly upscale presence that make it especially appealing if you want space and luxury in one package.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: Cadillac offers the 2021 Escalade ESV with the buyer’s choice of either a 6.2-liter V8 or a 3.0-liter Duramax turbodiesel inline-six engine, and both engines are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
• Tech: Wireless charging, NFC phone pairing, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and seven USB ports are standard.
• Safety: Super Cruise has an automatic lane change feature.

If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
