It's a really great vehicle. Lots of cargo space with great style and massive power! It is an SUV but it drives like a sports car. The acceleration is even faster than M3. I didn't feel that it's not reliable as I've never had any kinds of malfunction on mine.

The BMW M cars are always special machines. The X5 version of this takes a great car and makes it truly something special. With the twin turbo V-8 and the fantastic 8 speed transmission, matched with track style suspension setup and handling make this an incredible machine.

Why it stands out
The 2022 BMW X5 M stands out as the high-performance version of BMW’s midsize luxury SUV, and it brings the kind of pace and chassis tuning that make it feel far more serious than a typical family hauler. In the fourth-generation X5 lineup, the full-fat BMW X5 M returned in 2020 with a minimum of 600 horsepower and handling that defied the laws of physics, and the X5 M Competition supplied 617 horses. That performance focus is a big part of the appeal for buyers who want an SUV that can still deliver a genuinely athletic driving experience.
It also benefits from the broader fourth-generation X5 updates that improved the model’s everyday appeal. The 2024 facelift sharpened the X5’s styling, added a new BMW Curved Display housing the digital gauges and next-generation iDrive infotainment, and bolted on a new standard six-cylinder engine with more power and better fuel economy. The V8-equipped X5 models also added mild-hybrid technology to boost output and efficiency. For shoppers, that means the X5 M combines serious performance with the kind of modern cabin and technology expected in a premium SUV.
The tradeoffs are the ones you would expect from a vehicle like this. The X5 M is expensive to buy, and the broader X5 lineup is not cheap to run compared with some brands. BMW also notes that the X5 isn’t designed for going off-road, so its strengths are on pavement rather than on rough trails.
