Which BMW M4 trim should I buy?

The 2025 BMW M4 offers these trims:

• M4: The base coupe brings the six-speed manual, the least power in the lineup, and the most affordable entry point for drivers who want the classic M4 experience.
• M4 Competition: This trim adds the 503-hp setup and the M Steptronic sport eight-speed automatic, making it the best-value choice for buyers who want stronger performance without stepping all the way up.
• M4 Competition xDrive: This version adds xDrive all-wheel drive, the 523-hp output, and the quickest acceleration in the lineup, and it suits buyers who want maximum traction and the most capability.
• M4 Convertible Competition xDrive: The convertible adds open-air driving to the Competition xDrive formula, along with the same high-output powertrain and all-wheel-drive hardware.

What BMW M4 do most buyers choose?

The BMW M4 years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2025.

These higher-volume years tend to draw the most shoppers because they combine strong availability with recent-model features and pricing that still sits below the newest examples.

What is the BMW M4's resale value?

Most of the newer model years are moving lower year over year, which can work in your favor if you want a recent M4 at a softer price. A few older years are rising instead, showing that certain used examples continue to command stronger demand. Overall, the pattern gives you a mix of falling prices on newer cars and firmer values on some older ones.

The 2020, 2016, and 2015 model years have held their value best, with prices flat to rising year-over-year.
