Why it stands out
The 2014 Acura TL stands out as a well-equipped luxury sedan with a strong emphasis on comfort, technology, and available performance. It was offered with two engine options, a 2.4-liter four-cylinder or a 3.5-liter V6, and the base four-cylinder used an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission while the V6 was paired with a nine-speed automatic. That combination gave buyers a choice between efficiency and stronger output, while the available SH-AWD system added extra capability for V6 models.
Even in base form, the 2014 Acura TL came with a long list of features for its class. Standard equipment included an innovative four-wheel steering system, 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights and brake lights, a sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, dual-zone automatic climate control, leatherette upholstery, heated front seats with power adjustability, and a seven-speaker audio system. Its infotainment setup used two displays, including an eight-inch screen mounted on top of the dash and a seven-inch center display, while the optional Technology Package added real leather seating surfaces, voice command capability, navigation, and an ELS 10-speaker premium audio system.
The 2014 Acura TL also had some clear drawbacks that shoppers should keep in mind. The nine-speed automatic transmission in V6 models would prove troublesome, and the car’s back seat was cramped, with not much cargo space. Still, for buyers who want a used luxury sedan with a distinctive mix of features, available all-wheel drive, and a broad range of equipment, the 2014 TL remains appealing.
