Is the 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser a good car?

Yes — 5/5 from users and 7.5/10 from experts. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser is built around a body-on-frame layout with a turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid powertrain, full-time four-wheel drive, and serious trail hardware, so it fits you best if you want a rugged SUV that still feels modern and comfortable in daily use. It pairs that capability with a well-controlled ride, a comfortable cabin, and useful features like a digital gauge cluster, a Multi-Terrain Monitor, heated and ventilated seats, and available upgrades such as a JBL audio system, a power moonroof, and a head-up display.

The trade-offs are that it does not offer a third row, rear-seat legroom can be tight for tall passengers, and cargo space is limited for the class. It also feels only adequately powerful on the road, so it is more about composure and capability than quick acceleration.

With 27.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser is positioned as a durable, body-on-frame SUV with a hybrid powertrain, full-time four-wheel drive, and hardware meant to handle rough use. Its performance notes point to a system that delivers strong torque and enough power for towing and trail work, while the cost-effectiveness discussion emphasizes Toyota’s reputation for reliability and resale value.

The hybrid setup also helps modernize the Land Cruiser without abandoning its rugged mission, and the available maintenance and connected-service perks add convenience for ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that its premium fuel requirement and specialized off-road hardware can make upkeep and day-to-day running costs less forgiving than a simpler SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 99.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has seen trail use or heavy towing. Focus on wear items that can reveal hard use, including suspension, tires, brakes, underbody protection, and interior condition. It is also worth checking that the tech and driver-assistance features work as expected, since this Land Cruiser leans heavily on modern convenience and safety equipment.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 1958 is the simpler, more budget-focused version with round headlights, cloth seats, a smaller display setup, and a more limited color palette, while the higher trim adds rectangular lamps, standard artificial leather upholstery, more features, and optional upgrades. If you want the best value, the higher trim is the one to compare carefully against the 1958.
• Powertrain: The Land Cruiser uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder hybrid system with 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and full-time four-wheel drive. It is tuned more for capability and torque than for quick acceleration.
• Safety package: Every Land Cruiser gets Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, including high-beam assist, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist with automatic emergency stop capability, Proactive Driving Assist, blind-spot monitors with trailer coverage, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe-exit assist. The Premium Package adds lane-change assist, front cross-traffic alert, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Infotainment: The 1958 has a 7-inch digital driver display and an 8-inch touchscreen, while the higher trim upgrades to a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, wireless charging, and Toyota Connected Services are available, and the higher trim also gets Drive Connect.
• Fuel efficiency: The Land Cruiser is rated at 23 mpg combined on premium fuel.

Which 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser trim should I buy?

The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser is offered in 2 trim levels: Land Cruiser 1958 and Land Cruiser.

Here's the short version:

• Land Cruiser 1958: This is the simpler, more affordable choice if you want the Land Cruiser’s core capability without paying for the larger screens and extra convenience features. It keeps the basic, functional character and is the better fit if you care more about value than upscale equipment.
• Land Cruiser: This is the better-value pick for most shoppers because it adds the more sophisticated tech stack, standard artificial leather upholstery, and more available features and upgrades. If you want the version that feels more complete and more modern, this is the one to target.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, while the Premium Package adds lane-change assist, front cross-traffic alert, and Traffic Jam Assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully rather than rushing.

• Deal availability: 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 222 listings available.
• Clean inventory: 99.5% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser safe?

The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side-impact NHTSA testing.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Land Cruiser has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes high-beam assist, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist with automatic emergency stop capability, Proactive Driving Assist, blind-spot monitors with trailer coverage, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe-exit assist. The Premium Package adds lane-change assist, front cross-traffic alert, and Traffic Jam Assist.

There are also a few caveats to keep in mind. The lane-centering assist can feel overly intrusive, Traffic Jam Assist only works below 25 mph, and the IIHS gave the Land Cruiser mostly Good ratings with some Acceptable and Marginal scores in the mix. The Marginal result comes from the updated moderate overlap frontal impact test, and the rectangular headlights on the more expensive model score lower than the round headlights on the 1958.

Should I buy a 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2027 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2027 if:

• 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 99.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2027 Land Cruiser keeps the rugged body-on-frame formula, adds a modern hybrid powertrain, and gets limited updates including a new paint color, available heated and ventilated rear seats, and an accessory high-mounted air intake.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version of this Land Cruiser formula, the 2027 is the one to buy because it preserves the model’s core strengths while adding a few useful updates. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may make more sense, but the 2027 is the cleaner choice if you want the latest setup and are willing to shop selectively.
