Is the 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating and 7.5/10 expert rating point to a Land Cruiser that lands well with shoppers who want capability and comfort in one package. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser keeps the body-on-frame formula but updates it with a turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid setup, full-time four-wheel drive, and serious trail hardware. It’s also described as a premium, highly capable SUV that emphasizes off-road confidence, comfort, and improved fuel economy over the older, larger Land Cruiser formula.

The trade-offs are that it feels only adequately powerful on the road, requires premium unleaded fuel, and gives up some practicality with no third row, tight rear-seat legroom for taller passengers, and limited cargo space. Even so, 27.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there’s still some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser also leans on Toyota’s reputation for reliability, and the expert review frames it as a refined yet rugged SUV that should handle commuting during the week and weekend escapes without drama.

The powertrain is described as having more than adequate oomph, and the truck-like chassis is presented as durable and well suited to rough terrain and foul weather. Toyota also recommends premium fuel, and the Land Cruiser’s efficiency-minded hybrid setup is part of its modern appeal.

If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about living with a premium, off-road-focused SUV that can be costly to fuel and may not fit every family’s space needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 99.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has seen trail use or heavy city mileage. Focus on tire wear, underbody condition, brake feel, and any signs of suspension or drivetrain abuse, since this is a rugged SUV that may have been used as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 1958 is the simpler version, with round headlights and cloth seats, while the higher trim adds rectangular lamps, standard artificial leather upholstery, more colors, and more features and optional upgrades. The base trim is the one to target if you want the lower entry price, while the higher trim suits you if you want a more polished cabin and more equipment.
• Powertrain: The Land Cruiser uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder hybrid system with 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic and full-time four-wheel drive. It’s efficient for the class, but it’s not quick, so you should buy it for torque and capability rather than speed.
• Safety package: Every Land Cruiser gets Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, including high-beam assist, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist with automatic emergency stop capability, Proactive Driving Assist, blind-spot monitors with trailer coverage, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe-exit assist. The Premium Package adds lane-change assist, front cross-traffic alert, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Infotainment: The 1958 has a 7-inch digital driver display and an 8-inch touchscreen, while the higher trim upgrades to a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and wireless phone charging are part of the better-equipped setup, and Drive Connect is included on the higher-spec model but not the 1958.
• Fuel efficiency: The Land Cruiser is rated at 23 mpg combined on premium fuel.

Which 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser trim should I buy?

The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser is offered in 2 trim levels: Land Cruiser 1958 and Land Cruiser.

Here's the short version:

• Land Cruiser 1958: This is the value play if you want the Land Cruiser experience at the lowest entry price. You still get the core off-road hardware and the hybrid powertrain, but the cabin is simpler, the screens are smaller, and you miss out on the more advanced tech and some of the nicer features found in the higher trim.
• Land Cruiser: This is the best-value trim if you want the version that feels most complete. It adds the larger 12.3-inch displays, wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, more colors, and more available features and upgrades, making it the better pick for most shoppers who plan to live with the SUV every day.

For safety, every trim gets Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, while the Premium Package adds lane-change assist, front cross-traffic alert, and Traffic Jam Assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser?

This looks like a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively and still find decent opportunities.

• Deal availability: 27.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 226 listings available.
• Clean inventory: 99.6% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser safe?

The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in the frontal-impact crash test, five-star ratings in the side-impact crash test, and a three-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, and it includes high-beam assist, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist with automatic emergency stop capability, and Proactive Driving Assist. Blind-spot monitors with trailer coverage, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe-exit assist are also standard.

The Premium Package adds lane-change assist, front cross-traffic alert, and Traffic Jam Assist. One caveat is that the lane-centering assist can feel overly intrusive, and the IIHS results include some Acceptable and Marginal scores, including a Marginal result in the updated moderate overlap frontal impact test and a lower score for the rectangular headlights on the more expensive model.

Should I buy a 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2027 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2027 if:

• 27.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 99.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2027 Land Cruiser adds limited updates, including a new Inked paint color, available heated and ventilated rear seats, and an accessory high-mounted air intake.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version with the latest small updates and the same core Land Cruiser formula, the 2027 is the one to target. If you’re mainly shopping on price, a nearby model year may make more sense, especially if you can find a cleaner example with the equipment you want.
