Is the 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS a good car?

The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS earns an 7.7/10 expert rating, and the standout strength is Performance at 9/10. It is aimed at you if you want a three-row luxury SUV with S-Class-like comfort, strong space for passengers and cargo, and a flagship-level tech and feature set. The 2027 update adds sharper styling, a modernized cabin, and updated powertrains, but the trade-offs are a polarizing design and some ergonomic issues. With 33.1% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you a moderate amount of room to shop selectively.

Is the 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS reliable?

The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS is presented as a well-executed luxury SUV with updated powertrains and tech, and its performance tuning is aimed at improving responsiveness while reducing noise, vibration, and harshness. Mercedes also says the GLS 450’s inline-six benefits from a more powerful auxiliary electric compressor, and the lineup uses an integrated starter/generator electric motor to improve efficiency. The brand’s Pre-Safe system adds collision-prep protection, and the 2027 update includes a more modern cabin and revised hardware that should support everyday usability. For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk is mainly tied to the complexity of a large, highly equipped luxury SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury SUV with advanced electronics, multiple powertrain choices, and available air-suspension hardware. Focus on overall condition, feature operation, and signs of heavy use, since the GLS is built to be loaded with equipment and can vary a lot by trim and options.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard lineup includes six-cylinder GLS 450 4Matic and V8 GLS 580 4Matic models, with AMG GLS 63 and Maybach GLS 680 also available. The base GLS 450 is the least flashy choice, while the GLS 580 adds more power and the higher-end models bring more specialized equipment.
• Powertrain: The GLS 450 uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 375 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, and the GLS 580 uses a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with 530 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. All GLS models use an integrated starter/generator electric motor, a nine-speed automatic transmission, and 4Matic all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include lane-keep assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitors, traffic-sign recognition, and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality. Optional features include steering assist, lane-change assist, parking assist, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is a Superscreen with three 12.3-inch displays, including a passenger screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are retained, and the system runs Mercedes’ MB.OS-based MBUX software.
• Fuel efficiency: The GLS 450 is expected to achieve 21 mpg combined (19 mpg city, 24 mpg highway). The V8 models do not have 2027 estimates listed, but prior-year figures were 16 mpg combined for the GLS 580, 17 mpg combined for the AMG GLS 63, and 15 mpg combined for the Maybach model.

Which 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS trim should I buy?

The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS is offered in 4 trim levels: GLS 450 4Matic, GLS 580 4Matic, AMG GLS 63, and Maybach GLS 680.

Here's the short version:

• GLS 450 4Matic: This is the best-value choice if you want the GLS experience without jumping into six-figure pricing. It gives you the updated cabin, the standard Superscreen, the inline-six powertrain, and the core comfort and tech features that define the model.
• GLS 580 4Matic: Choose this if you want stronger V8 performance and a more effortless feel without going all the way to the AMG or Maybach models. It adds a big jump in output and is the right pick if power matters more to you than keeping costs down.
• AMG GLS 63: This is the performance-focused choice, with a higher-output V8, performance-tuned transmission and suspension, a limited-slip differential, and beefier brakes. It suits you if you want the quickest and most aggressive GLS.
• Maybach GLS 680: Pick this if you want the most luxurious and exclusive version of the GLS. It is the top-end option and is aimed at buyers who care most about prestige and personalization.

The safety package includes standard driver-assistance features, with additional systems available as options.

Should I buy a 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2027 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2027 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• It adds updated styling, powertrains, and tech features.

Consider the 2026 if:
