Just over 25 years after its introduction, this midsize crossover now faces competition from the Acura MDX, the Audi Q7, the Genesis GV80, the Lexus RX, and the Mercedes-Benz GLE, among others. For 2027, the X5 gets a thorough redesign, entering its fifth generation with very different styling and tech features pulled from BMW’s new family of EVs.
