New & Used 2026 Toyota bZ for Sale nearColumbia, SC

Is the 2026 Toyota bZ a good car?

The 2026 Toyota bZ earns an expert rating of 6.5/10. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 8/10.

Toyota’s refresh makes this a much more compelling electric SUV than the old version because you get more power, over 300 miles of range in the right configuration, a standard NACS charging port with a CCS adapter, and Plug & Charge capability. That lines up well with the bZ’s role as a practical daily EV rather than a flashy one, and the updated styling plus larger infotainment screen help the cabin feel more modern.

The trade-offs are still real: the driver display is poor, the driver monitoring system can be irritating, and the bZ is not a Top Safety Pick. Even so, the refresh turns it into a more competitive choice for you if you want an affordable, easy-to-live-with electric SUV.

Good and great deals account for 35.0% of listings, which suggests there’s at least some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Toyota bZ reliable?

Toyota’s updates make the 2026 bZ feel more dependable as a daily EV because it now has stronger range, easier charging, and a more polished cabin than before. The expert evaluation also points to low cost of ownership as a meaningful strength, and the car’s charging setup is more flexible thanks to the standard NACS port and included CCS adapter.

The performance notes also support a practical ownership picture: the bZ is comfortable and quiet in normal commuting, the regenerative braking is easy to manage, and the standard parking sensors with automatic braking add everyday convenience. The cost-effectiveness notes also mention free scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a battery-powered SUV still depends heavily on battery condition and charging history, so you should verify how the car has been charged and whether it has been treated consistently over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Toyota bZ?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

Even with strong clean-inventory numbers, you should still run a history report and confirm the car’s accident and title status before you buy. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on the battery, charging equipment, tires, brakes, and any signs that the car has been used hard or charged in a way that doesn’t match your ownership plans. You should also pay close attention to cabin condition and whether the driver display and driver-assistance systems behave as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: XLE and Limited are the two trim levels, and the bigger battery is standard on Limited. The XLE can be configured with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, while the Limited adds more equipment and is the better choice if you want the most complete version.
• Powertrain: You can get a single-motor front-wheel-drive setup or a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup. The larger battery brings more power and range, while the dual-motor version produces 338 hp and is the strongest choice if you want the quickest setup.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard and includes high-beam assist, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, safe-exit assist, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking are also standard, while Limited adds Traffic Jam Assist, lane-change assist, front cross-traffic assist, and Advanced Park Assist.
• Infotainment: A 14-inch touchscreen is standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system also supports connected services and native navigation through Drive Connect.
• Range & charging: The larger battery delivers over 300 miles of range in the right configuration, and DC fast charging from 10% to 80% takes about 30 minutes on a sufficiently powerful charger. Home charging on a 240-volt Level 2 setup is also a strong point.
• Battery health: Check battery state-of-health, ask how often the car has been DC fast charged versus charged at home, and confirm how much of the battery warranty remains. For a used EV, consistent charging habits matter as much as mileage.

Which 2026 Toyota bZ trim should I buy?

The 2026 Toyota bZ is offered in 2 trim levels: XLE and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XLE: This is the value play if you want the bZ’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. It gives you the standard safety tech, the new 14-inch touchscreen, and the practical everyday EV experience without paying for the extra equipment on Limited.
• Limited: This is the better pick if you want the most complete bZ. It adds the larger battery as standard, plus Traffic Jam Assist, lane-change assist, front cross-traffic assist, and Advanced Park Assist, so it suits you best if you want the most convenience and the strongest overall package.

The Limited trim also gets the upgraded safety and driver-assistance features that help it stand apart from the XLE.

Is the 2026 Toyota bZ safe?

The bZ earns Acceptable ratings in frontal-impact crash tests from IIHS, while its headlights receive a Poor rating. IIHS also gives its front-crash avoidance tech the highest Good rating, but the overall result falls short of a Top Safety Pick award.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, and it includes high-beam assist, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control. Proactive Driving Assist is also included, along with blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, safe-exit assist, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking.

The Limited trim adds Traffic Jam Assist, lane-change assist, front cross-traffic assist, and Advanced Park Assist. The main caveats are the poor headlight result and the overly sensitive driver monitoring system.

Should I buy a 2026 Toyota bZ or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Toyota’s refresh fixes the bZ4X’s biggest weaknesses with more power, over 300 miles of range, a standard NACS charging port, and a larger infotainment screen.

The bottom line: If you want the most competitive version of this electric SUV, the 2026 model is the one to target because it corrects the biggest shortcomings of the earlier version while staying relatively affordable. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and focus on the best-equipped examples that give you the strongest range and charging setup for the money.
