New & Used 2026 Toyota Sequoia for Sale nearEden Prairie, MN

Is the 2026 Toyota Sequoia a good car?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia earns a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

It’s aimed at you if you want a full-size, body-on-frame SUV with real towing ability, three-row seating for up to eight, and a more premium feel than a basic workhorse. The hybrid powertrain gives it strong acceleration and helps it stand out among large SUVs, while the trim spread gives you options ranging from utility-focused to luxury-leaning and off-road-oriented.

The trade-offs are clear: the Sequoia’s hybrid setup only delivers modest efficiency gains, and its truck-based packaging can make it less space-efficient than some rivals. Cumbersome handling is another downside.

Good and great deals account for 37.1% of listings, so there’s a meaningful amount of market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Toyota Sequoia reliable?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia is built around a truck-based platform and a hybrid powertrain, which supports its durability-focused mission. Toyota’s setup is aimed at buyers who want a rugged family hauler that can tow and carry heavy loads, and the powertrain is described as strong from a stop and capable of doing the work expected of a body-on-frame SUV.

Toyota also includes a maintenance perk in the ownership experience through connected services and standard safety tech, which can make day-to-day use easier. The hybrid system is integrated into the drivetrain rather than being a separate add-on, which helps the Sequoia feel like a purpose-built package.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that its size, complexity, and truck-based layout can make repairs and running costs more demanding than those of a simpler SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Toyota Sequoia?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a full-size SUV that may have been used for towing or family hauling. Pay close attention to tire wear, brake condition, and signs of heavy use, since those can reveal how the vehicle was driven and maintained. It’s also worth checking that the cabin, cargo area, and third-row seating mechanisms all work smoothly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SR5 comes with cloth upholstery, while the other trims have real leather, and the Platinum and Capstone add contrast stitching. The top Capstone also gets body-colored wheel flares instead of black ones.
• Powertrain: A twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V6 hybrid makes 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque, with an electric motor helping acceleration. The setup is strong, and the Sequoia can tow up to 9,520 pounds.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, high-beam assist, and traffic-sign recognition. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system are also standard. No safety options are offered beyond the standard equipment.
• Infotainment: You get a standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, with a 14-inch touchscreen available on the next trim level or as an option on the base SR5. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system also supports OTA-style connected features through Toyota’s app ecosystem.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sequoia is EPA rated at up to 21 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive, or 19/22/20 mpg with 4WD.

Which 2026 Toyota Sequoia trim should I buy?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Pro, 1794 Edition, and Capstone.

Here’s the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Sequoia’s core strengths without the higher-trim price. It comes with cloth upholstery and the standard 8-inch touchscreen, though you can move up to the 14-inch screen with an option or by stepping up a trim. It makes sense if you want the least expensive path into the lineup.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience while staying below the luxury-focused upper trims. It’s a smart middle ground if you want a more polished Sequoia without paying for specialty equipment.
• Platinum: This trim leans more upscale, with real leather and contrast stitching. It suits you if you want a more premium cabin and are willing to pay for it.
• TRD Pro: This is the off-road-focused choice. It adds all-terrain tires, an off-road-tuned suspension, a grille light bar, an aluminum skid plate, and all-weather floor mats, so it’s the one to buy if you want the most rugged version.
• 1794 Edition: This is the luxury-leaning Texas-themed model. It’s the right pick if you want a more distinctive upscale personality in the lineup.
• Capstone: This is the top luxury trim, with body-colored wheel flares and the most premium presentation. Choose it if you want the most upscale Sequoia and don’t mind the price.

Toyota’s safety suite is standard across the lineup, and no safety options are offered beyond the standard equipment.

Is the 2026 Toyota Sequoia safe?

The 2026 Toyota Sequoia scored a top Good in the IIHS small overlap and updated side crash tests, but it received a Marginal score in the updated moderate front overlap test. Its available headlights split their scores between Poor and Good, and its front crash prevention system earned a Good rating for pedestrian scenarios but only a Marginal vehicle-to-vehicle rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, high-beam assist, and traffic-sign recognition. Also standard are blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

The main caveat is that the Sequoia’s crash-test results are mixed, especially in the updated moderate front overlap test and with some available headlights.

Should I buy a 2026 Toyota Sequoia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• It combines strong towing ability with a hybrid powertrain and a wide trim spread.

Consider the 2025 if:

• The 2025 adds a Texas-themed 1794 Edition and keeps the same core full-size SUV mission.

The bottom line: If you want the latest used Sequoia with strong market availability and the same core strengths, the 2026 is the cleaner target. If you’re shopping mainly on price and the 2025’s similar capability and trim mix fit your needs, that earlier model year is worth a look.
